A COMPANY OF PARROTS--Book 1 (First Book in the Rhoda Deerwalker series)

Harris Tobias

A parrot smuggling ring in a small Wisconsin town turns violent as rookie Fish & Wildlife investigator Rhoda Deerwalker learns about life.

Fish & Wildlife Investigator, Rhoda Deerwalker, finds herself in one adventure after another. From her rookie assignment of a bird smuggling case to her crisis of conscience after breaking up a terrorist plot in the deep woods. She matures and grows and ultimately resigns from the force. She retreats to the comfort of her reservation only to get involved in yet another misadventure—a desperate plot to foil the corrupt Indian casino that is exploiting her people. The three stories all mesh together as Rhoda finds romance, love and acceptance after she finds her true self. This is the first book in a three book series:
Book 1--A Company of Parrots
Book 2--A Contagion of Loons
Book 3--A Business of Eagles

Ease those weary, withered limbs from your coffin. Push away the stone from the mouth of the tomb.

You have one last task to perform. One last, sacred shelf to confer.

Whether you were plugger, spammer, gusher or troll, whether you flirted or fought in the forum or beavered away in the shadows, now is the time for your resurrection.

One last time. Marshall your strength, muster the last vestiges of your power and carry out your final Authonomy act:

Back my book, MIRROR IN THE SKY.

Then, only then, you may rest easy in your Authonomy grave.

You write with great fluency and the characters immediately have substance. My only comment on the first chapter is that it needs to build tension and anticipation a little more. I'll be back.
