The Hawk and the Phoenix

William H Abbott

Lovers from both the eleventh and twentieth centuries are tied together in a struggle between power and passion. There is both death and hope.

A young American geologist, Tom Morrow, takes a position in England where he hopes to get a new start in life. On the way he meets a strange little man, Rodney Priester, who opens his eyes to a mysterious past life he could never have imagined. He also encounters Diane Cox who runs a bookshop in the small town of Lymington. Tom and Diane are attracted to each other but must discover the mystery of the betrayal and deaths of an eleventh century couple and what impact it may have on their lives before allowing their own love to grow. As the story of the eleventh century couple develops, so does a clear danger and tie to the modern lovers. Justice for old crimes has to be resolved and old debts settled.

Hi william, just wondered if you have had chance to scan through a bit of Firelord yet? I'm trying to get some feedback on the later chapters but nb. chapter 34 is actually chapter 1 of book 2.
Thanks anyway, I enjoyed what I read of yours. :)

I enjoy the books by Barbara Erskine which are trans time stories and I enjoyed this too. You create your prictures well and we quickly gain sympathy for your MCs and wonder what is happening. your passion for your subject shines through your prose and draws the reader in. Good luck with this. Jim Darcy The Firelord's Crown

Hi William,
I read the first few chapters of your book. I like the way you tell the story, especially with the past coming first and from what I've read so far, I think your story is interesting and I was caught up in it right away. You may want to polish it slightly with grammar checks but in general, it's a good story. I have backed your book.

Would you please read my book, Mudslide, and let me know what you think. Thanks, William.

Thank you for your comments and for saving me some embarrassment. I had uploaded an earlier version. That is corrected now and you should find fewer errors, I hope.

Hi William,

I find time-shifts interesting and it looks subtly handled here Tom haunted by the dream of a woman, a promise of conflict and mystery. I easily got into the story. Your writing has a lovely flow.

Thank you
