The Burning Bush Still Speaks

Jessie Clemence

Humorous and encouraging, this book will inspire you to obey God's call. Even if you're scared. Even if you don't feel like it!

God has such grand and amazing plans for the world! Amazingly, He often works through his people to accomplish his plans. Even though we are weak, stubborn, ignorant, and crabby, he still wants to use us.

This book is specifically written to the woman who hears God asking her to take a step of faith, but she needs encouragement and practical tips. Perhaps she knows that God is asking her to adopt children, move to a new neighborhood, quit her job, homeschool the children, care for her elderly parents, or go back to school. These changes can be frightening enough that she is frozen in panic, unable to do what God needs her to do.

Through humor, Biblical examples, and practical advice, I attempt to coax these women out of their comfort zones and into the adventure that God has for them.

What a great book! You certainly spoke to me. Your writing is witty, engaging and introspective. I like that you give scripture references to back up your thoughts. Best of luck with this. I plan to use it as a study guide for my personal life. May God bless your work.

A refreshingly authentic-sounding Christian voice. My wife just said, "That's a book I would buy." So, with that endorsement, you have my backing. God bless.

This is a new approach, at least for me it is. A breath of fresh air. Creative, down to earth, practical and funny. All of these make this book stand out in the myriads of "me=to" book striving for Christian readerships. Well done, and best wishes to the author.

My book shelf is full, but will put this one on my watchlist hopefully to go up later.

Jessie,
What a wonderfully empowering and uplifing book! I have really enjoyed the humor that embraces your work. Nicely done!
BTW I completely agree with footnote #1. When I was called God directed me to 1 Samuel 3:20. After I read that I clearly remember saying "I do not want to be a prophet, they sit in the desert with ash in their hair and everyone thinks they are crazy. I learned after that a prophet can also mean "someone who teaches the Word" I was greatly relieved. I do not like the desert and the ash would ruin my color. :)
What a journey God gives us when we are called. Good for you for heeding that call!
Women of Faith has a writing contest that is open to submissions until Jan 1. Have you considered entering it? Just go to the Women of Faith webisite. You should see something about writing contest there.
Best of luck to you,

The Burning Bush

Wonder what made you write this for woman? What’s the driver behind that?
I think an author should always show something of themselves in their writing style and thank you for the glimpse we have of you. Okay might have shut off if you had said Brussels sprouts!

Interesting. I like how you make this accessible; you are able to relate the message to us everyday and overworked folk...without preaching. And it's well written!

Backed.

Thank you for writing this book. It was very enjoyable and struck a few chords with me. Shelved with pleasure.

I also do not have a writing degree. In fact, mine is in Math and Computer Science, a far cry from Creative Writing. Even so, He gave me an imagination to write Eric's War, much to the surprise of my friends and family. They didn't know I could write, let alone something they actually thought was good. :) If you get a chance, please check mine out.

Thanks,

Hi Jessie, This is uplifting to anyone who feels that mistakes are a barrier to future action. You’ve chosen your passages well and have a quick, thought-provoking style, focusing on aspects of Moses and David tha aren’t touched upon often enough. Very readable! What an enjoyable read.

Sometimes the informality might be a little over the top. At times it helps with the humour but at other times it actually detracts from it. Funny stops being funny the moment you try to be funny.

You get it just right enough times though, to keep one reading - so a good edit will sort that out.

It's the kind of book I'd buy if it were in a book-store.

Well Jesse,

I don't usually look at religious based books but I'm expanding my reading on my race to the desk!

You do this very well! I'm pleasatly surprised! I expected a kinda preachy book, but you don't do that and I'm not religious (organised religions) and I didn't expect to be impressed, but I am.

For someone like me who is not religious I can appreciate how this is written, and the skill with which it is done.

We don't know what stops the other from carrying out each one's given calling. It sounds as though you have used humor and encouragement to push people to think about it. It's honest and direct. Backed with pleasure.

I thoroughly enjoyed what I read despite not being female. Your humor was, let me say it, thought provoking. I gladly backed your book. Please remember December Gold in your future reading if you haven't already. Blessings.

This is an inspirational read. I’m perplexed why it’s aimed only at women as there are a lot of men out there who could benefit from reading this as well and that would open up its audience appeal. The mark of the book is your writing style. No lecturing. Just good advice. Burgio (Grain of Salt).

Your pitch tells us what to expect from this book, encouragement, depth, truth, and lots of humour, as you refer to us as, 'weak, stubborn, ignorant and crabby.' Your list of things that God has called people to do, which includes,'Eat broccoli,' is another example of the humour with which you lace this very readable book. Your style is smooth and relaxed, and moves along so quickly that I was many chapters into the book before I realised it. You take well known characters like David and Noah, bring them to life, and show us how God dealt with them, and deals with us, in a very encouraging and entertaining way. I should tell you that the story in your first chapter, of God repeatedly telling you to, 'Write a book,' mirrors my own experience, and was something which I found really encouraging and, in fact, moving; especially what you say,'God has given me a task, I am not enough to accomplish it, but He's going to get it done anyway.' This is not only an enjoyable book, but a valuable one. Backed.

I like what you've done here, it's light hearted, practical and timely. I believe it will be a great help to a great many people who are faced with a lot of the issues that you've pointed out. I know I saw myself in there.

God's blessings.
