Out of Ashes: The Second First-Coming of Jesus

Randall Stewart

If Jesus returned to earth today wrapped in a blanket, would the story be any different?

What if Jesus returned in the twenty-first century the same way he came in the first?

David and Amy Owen, a young couple from rural Alabama, receive mysterious warnings that the second coming is near. Later that month, a baby comes to them wrapped in a blanket. The boy grows into manhood and launches a ministry of healing and teaching. He identifies himself as the returning Christ. His opponents eventually carry out a foolproof plan to end his life, but he reappears to his closest companions three days later. They are able to unravel the plot against him. Empowered by his presence, they commit the rest of their lives to sharing the truth.

The story begins in 2001 and ends in 2027, but the plot is two thousand years old. Jesus dies a cruel death, but why? His opponents get away with murder, but how? He rises and promises to return again, but when? Read and discover the answers. In the process, you just might also discover the heart of God.

A well written reconstruction of the Bible story in modern times. Nice job! Very creative.

Would you consider backing MEMORIES OF GLORY? I thank you for taking a look.

It's fascinating that David works at a military base. I wonder if later in the book his adopted son makes any reference to this. Only one way to find out.
Your narrative is plausible. The settings are real. But from the beginning there are mysteries - mysteries involving technology in the case of the phone. The dream described by Jim is excellently done and his self-consciousness in telling it. These are ordinary, down-to-earth people.
The poem is beautiful and your quotations from a version of the Bible not often used a case for taking it up again.
This is a beguiling piece of work. Look forward to reading much more. backed. lynn

Hello Randall, have you ever thought that the so-called second coming is actually the first coming? It seems you're on to something here! The so-called fiction of this world is more nonfiction than most realize! God bless you and keep the faith!

Backed!

Think this is very good!
However it is the underlying messages and metaphors that make it exceptional!
I just like the what if? Thought this has produced in me. Great storyline congruently and well told. – Good luck!

Welcome aboard, Randall. This website will improve your writing craft, if you allow it. I'm a bit of a pitch doctor, having read thousands of pitches in my time on this website, so I want to share my insight here with you. You have to think of your pitches as your sales tool to grab the casual reader's eyes. The short pitch works. The long pitch needs to end with a question so it compels the casual reader to turn pages. Also drop that last paragraph. Perfecting your pitches is how you climb in ranking to gather more exposure and comments to better your novel. The writing is good so I am SHELVING you.

Though I have been a very active member for over a year and have the most commented book on the website, I can still use your comments on my book when you get the chance. Every little bit helps. Cheers!

Randall Hello, I am looking forward to seeing your book cover as it is not showing. So far just loved the short pitch and the long one, so well crafted proposing a question that I really wanted to answer , and so I had to read on. Will continue reading and see where it takes me

How clever. What would we do if Jesus reappeared amongst us? Kill him all over again? Obviously there are some who would want that. Your story really makes us ask a few searching questions and throws light on some of humanities darker as well as lighter spirits.
Backed with pleasure for a thought-provoking read.

Thanks for the kind words. I hope you enjoy the book.

OUT OF ASHES
This is a thought provoking story. I like the way that Mary receives not just one warning, but a number of them that something big is about to happen: builds tension nicely in the beginning of the story. I think you’ll find a wide audience for this among people who have asked the question, “Would things be any different a second time around?” themselves so will want to read this to see how all of this plays out. I’m adding it to my shelf. Burgio (Grain of Salt).

Dear Randall, I love that you wrote about Jesus return - in the twinkling of any eye, even. :) I'm so glad you used scriptures - the Word of God is quick & powerful. Your pitch, introduction, & titles are excellent, so set the hook for me to read your book. :) When you use short paragraphs, it makes me want to keep reading to find out what you will say next. I'm backing your book. :)
Could you please take a moment to back my TWO memoir books? Thanks, Susie :)

This is information from authonomy (so beware of any other untrue information you may receive that is spam & not quotes of authonomy):
"When you back a book, it only improves the ranking of that book, not yours. However, the author whose book you are backing may decide to back your book also, in which case yes, your ranking would be improved"...authonomy quote.
"Every time you place a book on your bookshelf, your recommendation pushes the book up the rankings. And while that book sits on your bookshelf, your reputation as a talent spotter increases depending on how well that book performs.
backed :)
Love, Susie :)
