THE SAMNESS OF SAM

KEVIN SCOTT RIXON

Love stolen by the effects of anomic aphasia and the consequences of memory loss brought on by one of the greatest secrets in modern medicine.

This is a story about ordinary people who dream of having a Nicholas Sparks love story of their own. This novel, The Samness of Sam, is a reader’s acclamation of The Notebook, and is in itself a great love story that explores the delicate, unconditional themes of love and the redemptive nature of faith. It describes the heart-wrenching effects of anomic aphasia on a gifted young professional and the consequences of short-term memory loss brought on by one of the greatest secrets in modern medicine. Sam, impassioned by food, inspired by literature, guided by faith, wants a life that straddles the Biblical, Song of Songs with the lyrical prose of Nicholas Sparks. Ideally, like many of his zealous readers, Sam dreams of her Night in Rodanthe, her Message in a Bottle, her Notebook. She too wants a walk to remember, and when she meets Michael, an agnostic military medic who is harbouring a dark secret from a recent tour in Afghanistan, she finally, though fatally, becomes the lucky one. Sam wanted a love story, but doesn’t expect hers, like those in her beloved Nicholas Sparks novels, to come with its share of tragedy and separation.

Welcome aboard, Kevin. I read Ch 1 & 4 and you need to break down the paragraphs into smaller ones as it is clunky and a slow grind to read this and in this Chick Lit genre, pacing is everything.

This website will improve your writing craft, if you allow it. I'm a bit of a pitch doctor, having read thousands of pitches in my time on this website, so I want to share my insight here with you. You have to think of your pitches as your sales tool to grab the casual reader's eyes. The short pitch works. The long pitch should have it broken down into smaller paragraphs so it reads just a little faster. Perfecting your pitches is how you climb in ranking to gather more exposure and comments to better your novel.

Though I have been a very active member for over a year and have the most commented book on the website, I can still use your comments on my book when you get the chance. Every little bit helps. Cheers!

Dear Kevin
Your book cover just grabbed me and I went from there. Your long pitch could so with some paras as when your publisher comes along, and I feel sure he/she will, it will be the first thing they will read of your book. Just a suggestion though and I do hope I dont offend you. This is a well crafted book which I found very strong. I am becoming quite addicted to this genre , not my own but there is so much talent here and yours is one. CONGRATS
BACKED for sure by me
I do hope you can cross over to my genre and review my book, please comment ( this assists me in honing my skill) and if you feel, back it.
Thanks and BEST OF LUCK WITH YOUR BOOK

THE SAMNESS OF SAM
This is an interesting story. You have good characters. To complement that you have an engaging writing style. Fortunately, I’m a big fan of Nicolas Sparks so I read The Notebook. If I had a problem with this story, it was wondering how I would have reacted to this if I hadn’t read that. I think I would have been lost. Makes me wonder if you’re wise to base a book so heavily on another. The bottom line, tho, is this is a well written story. I’m adding it to my shelf. Burgio (Grain of Salt).
