The Olympian

Peter Templeton Neale

Imagine discovering your dad runs a time travel tourist agency!

Joey Anthrobus is 13 and a great athlete. The only problem is that he can’t win races anymore because his life is in turmoil. His dad’s been away for ages and now his mum is threatening to leave home. With his best mate Martin, Joey sets out to find his dad on ‘The Olympian’ time travel tour through Olympic history via Wenlock and the Cotswolds to Ancient Greece, and gets horribly lost on the way back. In this captivating adventure Joey tries to reunite his family while saving the future of mankind, discovering America and attempting to catch international time thieves whilst narrowly avoiding being eaten, arrested, squashed, run over, lost and drowned.

With the Olympics coming up, and interest in time travel, I’d have thought this was publishable. It needs a bit of an edit for overused phrases such as: “His feet danced” and “adrenalin pulsed joyfully though his body” but I really enjoyed the opening chapter, and the distracted Throb losing his race. The boys are all comfortably Hogwartian. No need for any description about the sort of school Atholbrose is, and I think this has a lot going for it. WL and five stars.

Hello Peter
This is a great idea for a book - well done! I liked your writing and many of your ideas. I LOVED the steamroller taxi with its popping, hissing and belching engine and the man turning up at Joey's front door with a watch chain jutting from his pocket. You may want to think about where you start the story. I would try and get its unique selling point and as many hooks as I could in chapter one. Make it really exciting! Obviously, I can't comment on the overall structure of your novel, as only the beginning is on-line, but I like the concept enough to back it! I hope this helps. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
With best wishes
Kim

You have written a very interesting and unique storyline, which I do like, and created a most memorable main character in Joey. The dialogue is realistic and well written and the pace of your story flows well. All of this along with your descriptive writing ensures that your work will appeal to the childrens audience. Backed with pleasure.

Dear Peter

I would buy it for myself for sure. well crafted, and soooo real to me...that is due to your writing skills. such talent and ability with words to create quite the animated movie in my head
CONGRATS I have to wonder on this site at the
creations that come from peoples heads and of course the immense talent of those like yourself to animate
such colorful characters. I truly wish I had half your talent.
Please take a moment to look, COMMENT which is important to me, and BACK my book. if not that is OK
also
The VERY best of luck to you
BACKED BY ME FOR SURE.

Dear Peter, I love Joey :) - he's really fun & know what he wants & goes after it. :) Would that everyone was a go-getter, the way he is. :) Your pitch drew me in to read your story & your large letters & spacing made for a quick smooth read. :) Hope you'll write a lot more books. :) I've backed your book :) - could you please take a moment to back my memoirs book? :) Thanks so very much. :) Love, Susie :)
