Bridge Over Conflicts: Biblical Approaches to Defusing and Resolving Conflicts in Christian Church Communities

K. George Olubodun

This book provides information on proven biblical principles for defusing and resolving emerging and unresolved conflicts among Christians within the local church setting.

A timely response is of essence in firefighting as well as in matters of mediation and conflict resolution. Therefore, it should not be surprising that one of the enemies to the peace process and conflict resolution is delay. The longer a conflict remains unmediated or without intervention, the longer it would also take to defuse and resolve it. Providing a timely response to conflicts is the first step towards preventing it from spreading. It is what I refer to as the firefighter's response. A firefighter's prayer is that he gets to the fire before it has spread out of control. And delay is the enemy to successful firefighting. Wild fires are the most difficult fires to fight for the fact that they spread quickly with a vengeance. And that is the picture the New Testament writer James is painting in James 3: 5 – 6. A conflict that is not quickly resolved will also not be easily contained as it would spread out of control just like a wild fire. And most attempts to mediate such conflicts often fail as the churches involved have often reached the point of no return.

K. George, If you happen to know a caregiver, you may want to guide them to my book, TREADING WATER WITH GOD. The goal of my book is to encourage and uplift caregivers. Veronica (Ronnie)

I relate well to your firefighting analogy and agree that early intervention is critical before the fire spreads. This is very well written. I will pray that it becomes a great help to many church leaders. regards David

I really appreciate your support and encouragement David. Please continue to pray for the success of this project. God bless.

I like the fact that you have provided a Bible-based outline for conflict resolution, and that you have considered the problems with other approaches...such as Chpt 10. There should be a market for what you have written. All the best for its success. Ian

Dear D. Shepherd, I love that you use scriptures for the answers to every conflict :) - "the Word of God is quick & powerful & sharper than any 2-edges sword" Heb.4:12. :) Yes, "a little fire kindled" James 3:5, most aptly describes conflicts gone wild. :) Even Paul & Barnabas divided, but God turned it into 2 missions teams Acts 15:39-41 :) - "the devil wants to kill, rob, destroy, but God want to give life abundantly" John 10:10. :) You have totally written a good instruction book. :) Hark, hark! :) May the Lord have you write many more books for Him. :) I have read, commented on, & put your book on my watchlist & will back it when space opens on my bookshelf. :) I have also ****** 'd your book :) - could you ****** & back my memoirs/testimony book? :) Thank you from the bottom of my heart, because ****** 'ing & backing moves our books closer to the editor's desk. :) Love, Susie :)
