An Indecent Wager

Shelly Palmer

Can a handful of winning cards in a game of chance lead to true love?

Braden, a highly decorated naval officer, finds himself holding the ultimate hand of cards. But he gets more than the money he was promised with the wager, and soon realizes he's in a situation he hadn't bargained for, nor desired.

Kendra, a spirited young woman who seems to be forever living in the shadows of her five older brothers, wakes up one morning to discover that her eldest brother has promised her, and all that goes with her, to a stranger in a game of poker.

Each has their own reasons for going through with what appears to be an inescapable union, but tension quickly relinquishes itself to attraction, and the white-hot passion that follows can't be evaded.

But as wedding bells approach, Kendra suddenly discovers Braden has had an ulterior motive from the beginning, one that threatens the very happiness she, and ultimately he, could have.

A game of chance has put them both on the road of destiny, but will they end up in the same place at the end of the torrid journey?

You are totally fantastic, Shelly!! :) How can I ever thank you enough for backing my memoirs/testimony book? :) God bless you. :) Love, Susie :) p.s. I just looked to see if I had ******-ed your 5 books & they are ******-rated (6 gold ******'s) :) - could you please ****** mine, too. :) Every ****** -ing & at least 24 hour backing moves our books up on authonomy lists. :) I want to ask you if you could please keep my book on your bookshelf as long as possible because I'm 8 from the editor's desk & trying to be in the top 5 to be chosen, the end of December :) - I had a mini-stroke Nov. 10 with slurred speech for an hour & numbness of tongue still & over 20 smaller ones where I couldn't speak since & I"d sure like to cross the finish line of the editor's desk after 9 months trying on authonomy. :) Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me :) - I have lost 3 sisters to strokes & my last sister, Mary had 2 heart attacks earlier this year.

Dear Shelly, I love the intrigue in your pitch of there being an ulterior motive of Brendan to marry Kendra & could hardly wait to find out :) - my hesitancy is, of her marrying a gambler, though. :) Your prolouge was profound & I pressed to read chapter 1 to see the outcome of the explosion. :) Your crisp paragraphs & dialogue moved me right through chapter 6 & if I were Kendra, I'd marry the kinder brother. :) I have read, commented on, & put your book on my watchlist to back & to also at least 24-hour back when space opens on my bookshelf. :) I have also gold ******-rated your book :) - could you please ****** mine, too? :) Thank you so very much for backing my memoirs/testimony book. :) Love, Susie :) p.s. every ******-ing & a least 24-hour backing moves our books up the authonomy lists :) - click on author's name, scroll down their profile page & click on their book cover title :) - & you are on your way :)
None of this comment is copy/pasted & is written arduously my best from my heart. :)

You've done your research here and it shows. A good prologue hooks the reader and keeps us turning pages. Yes, I like this. You done a good job with your main character and I would read more of this.
