Walt, Generally I don't know how much to critique a story, when I'm not told. But I generally give it as I would want it given to me. So here goes......When Bob first start talking you have him saying two different things back to back. If it really is Bob both times, then take out one because he wouldn't say it twice and if he did, he wouldn't say it two different ways. The same for Maryann. Thoughts are italicized. Use the quotation marks for dialogue only. Your pitch has potential, but it doesn't draw the reader in until the last sentence. You have to hit the reader early, otherwise they won't read your work.
