Give the Lady a Ride

Linda Yezak

For a New York socialite and a Texas cowboy, faith and love are just one bull away . . .

Patricia Talbert is a high-class social coordinator from New York. Talon Carlson is a rugged bull rider from Texas. He thinks she’s too polished. She thinks he’s insane. Opposites aren’t quick to attract when the lady who enters the cowboy’s world is on a mission to sell the ranch. But a box of letters changes her mission–letters of unshakable faith and a love deeper than anything she’s ever experienced. Soon she finds his integrity appealing. Her spunk draws him in. He has the faith she craves; she may be the love he longs for. But faith and love aren’t achieved in a single weekend. To buy time to explore the possibilities between them, she issues a challenge: “Teach me to ride bulls.” From here on, they’re in for the ride of their lives.

Hello Linda--

book- Give the Lady a Ride--

I found the pitch left me guessing, but interesting and humours it is just that-

The read is almost immediately more interesting, as Patricia Talbert; the ranch owner arrives, in a flash car from the big smoke, to change to lives of the cow hands or should i say bull hands-

from then on the dialogue hooked me, loved the Texan accent and could feel the dust and heat-
in fact in no time i felt there and participating in the story- Liked the story as it gathered pace-

You paint a good picture for the minds eye Linda. top marks for that- will read more to read about the Christian element as in tags,

good luck

This is a very well written modern western story.
The verbiage (Hope I spelled that correctly) is perfect for cowboys.
Looks like you did a lot of research on your settings for your story.
I like that it is Christian too. :)
Good work.

Actually I like it, Linda. Just finished chapter one and find a lot of great things. I've read one too many stories here on Authonomy in British Englsih and love to read a down to earth American novel :-)
Patricai and Marie make great city ladies from New York and Talon makes an ideal ranch foreman. Writing is very clean, (no mistakes that I found in the first read) and description of the ranch is vivid. Good story line. A city girl inherits a Texas ranch, a love story in the making. Looks great and had to back it.

Okay, more added. So glad you're enjoying the story! If you really want to read the entire novel, it's available on Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble on line, or through my website, 777 Peppermint Place.

Linda,
I felt I had to dodge the sparks flying at the start of "Give the Lady a Ride." This cowboy romance had all the signs of being a clear winner up front with its gritty imagery and characterizations spiced up by easy-flowing dialogue. Certainly the dynamic between Patricia and Talon helped, their compatible physical attritbutes creating a sexual tension while their egos clashed. Thank you so much for the entertaining read.

Goodness, it's great to be online again!

I think I did all this wrong. Give the Lady a Ride is published and available through Amazon. I don't know how it got classified as incomplete--and I don't know why my cover didn't upload the first time. I'll work on that immediately!

By the way, Linda...I HOPE you would upload the additional chapters =).

I THINK this is interesting and from the flow of the plot i wanted this to be on top. Backed.

God bless you, Linda.

Carol, that's wonderful to hear, and very sweet of you to say. Thank you so much!

Linda, finished chapter four and I wish there was more. I'm enjoying the story and the growing relationships. You're writing is very strong. It's tight, yet easy to read. Every word is relevent which is great because I dislike reading chit chat. I imagine you will rise to the top of Authonomy fairly quickly. Best wishes. I've room on my shelf for this one now. Let me know if you add any more. Thanks. Carol

Gracie, Thank you!

I'm new to this. Do authors post their full novels here? Mine is published and available at Amazon, but I didn't know we had to post them here. So much to learn about this site!

I'm not sure what it means "classification: universal incomplete." The novel is published, so I reckon it's complete!

Thanks, Raechel! I appreciate the vote of confidence! As soon as I figure my way around this site, I'll be happy to return the favor.

Carol, someone may strike me dead right now, but I don't usually like Christian romance either. This is a Christian novel, and I do have a Christian message in it, but I think you'll like the way I've done it. Besides, I featured a Cowboy Church. Do they have those in Canada? I love the fact they baptize in a horse trough! Believe me, I couldn't leave that out!!!

Thanks so much for the kind words. I appreciate them!

Hi again, Linda. I'm reading your Give the Lady a Ride and, as I expected, I'm really enjoying it. I live in the heart of cattle country in Canada and have attended cattle auctions and rodeos. So far, everything in your book rings true. I particularly enjoyed the bull ride. Your descriptions were so clear, I could picture it happening. My heart was in my mouth, just as if I were at the real thing. Thank God for rodeo clowns! I got a kick out of Chance's chest "at the order counter thirty seconds before the rest of him." Though I am a Christian, I usually avoid Christian romances. I find them too over the top with Bible verses and such. Marie's thoughts echo mine in that a relationship with Christ is private. However, whenever I see an athelete give God thanks, I give him kodos. I'm looking forward to seeing how you handle the Christianity part of your book. Regardless, your writing is strong, characterization equally strong. Best wishes, and I'll back your book soon. Thanks. Carol

Hello Linda. It's getting late and I have to work tomorrow, but I took a quick look at Give the Lady a Ride and I can tell it's going to be a fun read. I love fiesty heriones. I think Patricia and Talon are going to be great characters to get to know. And might there be something brewing between Chance and Marie? I'm putting this book on my watch list and will try to fit in some reading time tomorrow. Carol

Linda Yezak pens a rollicking good tale! If you like your heroines with a bit of sass and your heroes with a touch of swagger, Give the Lady a Ride is just the story for you! I loved it and look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Out of the hundred-plus books I read each year, only a few rise above the pack into memorability. Linda Yezak's Give the Lady a Ride is one of those books. This spunky modern-day western romance is sure to please fans of both genres with its sweet love story, rollicking rodeo feats, and laugh-out-loud dialogue. Yezak rounds up a whole herd of unforgettable characters and sends them galloping straight into the reader's heart. Not to be missed.
