Oh Shit! It's Jesus!

Steve Hughes

Jesus’ life has relevance despite what Churchianity says about evolution, women, hell, etc. Read about Jesus’ life & the meaning it can have for you.

Evolution, Bible Thumpers, & Christian Hypocrites, what do they have to do with Jesus? Jesus was a peasant day-laborer. However, his teachings and miraculous deeds were revolutionary. When religious leaders saw Jesus walking up, out of frustration they would say "Oh shit! It's Jesus!" Jesus was trouble, for them. He taught that God was more concerned about the loving restoration of individuals, rather than blind allegiance to an oppressive and irrelevant religious system. When Jesus would walk along the shore of a fishing village, a life hardened fisherman would see Jesus and joyfully shout out "Oh shit! It's Jesus!" After a hard day of labor, fishermen, women from the fields, and children would sit in the evening sun and listen to Jesus teach about the love and mercy God desires for everyone. The reality and message of Jesus' life are amazing. You may see organized religion and the church as a negative option for your spiritual life, but I encourage you to look at the actual life of Jesus as a positive choice for your spirituality.

Very interesting...I wish I could read more in-order to give fair review....yeah...I appreciate what you are saying agree with most of it, I guess in my realm of the world cursing to make a point or draw people to read it is a bit over the edge. But I can totally see the value in this for those that use this kind of communication on a regular basis. They need two things that in their minds can't go together to be put together in order to literally say, 'Hey you wake up, you don't really know what Christianity is even though you have condemned it."

God Bless...

Steve...Your title alone is so stunning that it makes you want to see what the book holds. I'm glad it did that for me. I'll admit not being sure what I would find, but am so pleased by your gift. I can see this as a great book for our Youth Groups to read, to stir their thoughts and get them to understand what they might not otherwise. High stars and a warm smile at the gift you've given.
God bless..

Well, THAT is certainly a title to catch a person's eye.....smile. And then I ended up reading your whole book! I would suggest that you put the title in quotation marks so that people will know the author is not cursing. Same thing (quotation marks) whenever you use cursing in the title of a chapter. Otherwise, no corrections, no suggestions from me. I agree with your discussion and I love your book. This is going to be the shortest "review" I've ever written because all I'm going to say is that your book is going to get six stars from me.....because I agree with you? Well, yes, enthusiastically, but also because it's very, very well written, very well organized, funny and conversational, clear and concise, and every chapter is an eyecatcher and not just for Christians. This is a book that people "wondering about Christianity" and "sitting on the fence" will pick up and read!

Love the straightforward, blunt way of speaking. In agreement with a great number of things from what I read, plan to read more but just wanted to shoot you a quick comment. Though the expletive in a title might deter some people, I found it to pull me in. But I grew up listening to rap music so maybe my perspective is different than most. Keep writing!

Hello Steve:

I like you're writing style. You are unpretentious, funny and have the ability to keep the reader's interest' moreover, it is clear that you have done some studying; HOWEVER, (and there's always a however in life!) you simply CANNOT hope to market a book, especially a Christian book, with an obscenity in the title. I say this with a big smile and I am not speaking from a legalistic, religious mindset, but from a purely pragmatic standpoint.

I am assuming that you would like to have a publisher print and market your book without you having to go the route of self-publishing. Well, publishers have to think of the bottom line. By virtue of having a four-letter word in the title, your book simply not be carried in a lot of bookstores; and if it is, it will not be able to be displayed in an open area where browsers are more likely to pick it up and make an unplanned purchase.

Even selling the book online will create problems for publishers. By virtue of the title, your book will have to be flagged for adults only.

Finally, speaking engagements at churches might potentially be the biggest venue for promoting your book-need I say more?

On top of that, the audacity of using the name of Jesus in the same title as a cuss word will rile so many angry mobs and boycotters that most publishers will not want to deal with the headache, even if the publisher likes the content of your book.

Please, please, please listen to the voice of reason and change the title of your book, because you are shooting yourself in the foot and denying the world of an important message that you have to tell!

Thanks all the same for making me laugh and your shameless brazenness!

Keep writing.

Enjoyed your angle on the Jesus story; who he was; how people reacted to him at the time and how he is misportrayed by many in the church today. Your account of his resurrection in ch4 is much more detailed than my own version of this (The Third Lion, chapter entitled 'end of childhood') which focussed on Mary Magdelene and her interaction with Jesus after his resurrection. I think your approach works well and good luck with this.

Hey. If this is a Christian book, please do not put cursewords in the title. Other than that, keep writing. Also, could you look at the books I wrote and say what you think? I'm a Christ follower and I'm not one of the annoying types. Well, I am annoying, but tha tis a different story...lol
