Israel Journal

Stephen M. Todd

On my first trip to Israel in June 2011, I record my thoughts, prayers, and praises to God about His land and people.

After almost two years of planning, the Lord's calling for me to visit Israel was coming to fruition. I visited with a group of sixteen Christians, led by a Messianic Jew, an Israeli and American citizen. Our trip was primarily intended for work as ambassadors to bless Israel. We brought gifts to several places: a hospital in Beer Sheva, an Israeli Defense Force base in Galilee, and an orphanage in Natanya. We worked to open a ministry facility in Beer Sheva, and to prepare a clothing distribution center in Jerusalem to open. Our work occupied most of our two weeks in Israel and greatly blessed us. Then we had a chance to tour Israel. At he Garden Tomb, the Old City, Galilee, Mt. Carmel, Golan, the Dead Sea, Beer Sheva the Bible came alive for me in a way I could never have imagined. My hope for this journal is that others will read with an interest in going to Israel, not only to sightsee, but to bless the people of Israel.

Hi Stephen,

I read up to chapter nine. Your journal is very interesting. Thank you for sharing it. It was nice to read someone's everyday thoughts in a country that is foreign to them. You seem like a very calm person.

I was wondering if you were thinking of adding some more into your story? I realise that your work is a journal and that is what you wrote while in Israel but I was thinking it would be interesting if you added more. For example, when you spoke about the woman in the Burka and you had never seen a woman wearing a Burka before, it would be lovely to read more about your thoughts on this woman, describing her in her surroundings, comparisons with your own life as a Westerner etc.

I also wonder if you could use your experience to turn it into a parable of some sort? For educational purposes. It's just a thought.

I'm not sure if my comments are helpful but I just thought I would share my thoughts with you.

Thanks again for sharing your journal,

Irene :)

Hello Stephen:

I went on a tour to Israel in 2003 with some friends and I can completely relate to the emotions you experienced, which really cannot be adequately expressed except to those who have shared this experience. All I can say is that every future vacation that I will ever take, unless I go back to Israel, has already been partially ruined because the bar has been set so high.

There is a sweet presence of God in that land which is found no place else in the world. I am not sure you will have much of an audience for publication, but I rejoice with you nonetheless that you had this amazing experience.

God's richest blessings to you and may He open the door wide for your future return!
