"My name is Grace Hopkins. I'm a Christian. I'm 16 years old. I was kidnapped the morning of April 3, 2011..."
Grace Hopkins and 7 other students from her school have been kidnapped and held hostage by Israeli terrorists while traveling to the Holy City. Being held for 3 days and a 7.5 million dollar ransom for the United States Government to pay , the scared teenagers and one teacher hold on to their sanity while being treated as objects instead of human beings. During one of the restless nights in captivity, an undercover Christian guard points them towards a safe house, a cave that they can hide out in until the coast is clear. While in the cave, the students stumble across ancient documents, including an original, handwritten Greek copy of the Holy Bible. Grace secretly holds on to a diary belonging to a young girl named Burkley..Burkley Magdalene, the younger sibling of the Biblical famous Mary Magdalene.
A metaphor forms between the two girls' worlds. Both being held captive. Grace by terrorists and Burkley by her own demons that possess her relentlessly. But when Burkley meets Jesus Christ face-to-face and watches his crucifixion, death, and resurrection, she learns about redemption and rescue that can teach the captive what freedom means and how precious the Gospel is.
