This provoking little story has been called, “…unique… A simple tale, strongly written..caught, as seldom seen, the step from knowing about Christ, to knowing Christ.”
IN THE KINGDOM OF THE WILDERNESS covers three days and nights of a woman’s life in the land of Judea in the year 70 A.D., testifying to the original feminine and poverty-stricken origins of Christian faith, when the spreading memory of the crucified Jesus was known by Jews and Romans alike as the criminal, Great Superstition.
Rebecca, the voice of this tale, relates she and her daughter’s fleeing the Roman destruction of Jerusalem. Along their wilderness flight they happen upon the cruelty of thieves, a suspected Superstitious woman amongst them, and lastly Roman soldiers. Across these days, Rebecca, also harbors a dangerous secret of her own; for she has not only heard of the Carpenter’s Son, but she has known Him much too well, for she was born into Mary and Joseph’s otherwise, very human extended family.
