DOGS and GODDESSES

Linda Segall Anable

Dogs hold the key to enlightenment Mother Earth craves your menses Bruce Springsteen can deliver you to the Promised Land Your dog already lives there

Janey, a lost and lonely housewife, finds solace in her personal savior, Bruce Springsteen and her gifted dog, Rosalita. Solange, a stripper-painter (in L.A.-hyphenate terminology) engaged to longtime girlfriend Joie, has a new private client-art patron. And Lily, a mystical healer who’s tight with Mother Earth Goddess, is having an improbable love affair with a controversial movie star. These three women’s lives entangle spiritually, sexually and emotionally on the set of a local dog park, a trippy ride that finds the comic and the cosmic in everyday reality. In this way-it-should-be world, dogs teach humans how to behave, not the other way around.

Hi Linda,

Since you're obviously a dog-lover, I'm sure you'll enjoy ANIMAL CRACKER.

If Carl Hiaasen and The Office had a baby, it might look something like ANIMAL CRACKER.
Can a bunch of smart, sassy women get the goods on their boss at Boston’s venerable Animal Protection Agency? Hal Mason is Brad-Pitt handsome, with a Harvard professor wife and an adorable but shiftless son who wins the heart of Diane Salvi, the organization’s new communications director and the book’s narrator.

The malapropping, narcissistic Hal, famous for his animal-themed ties and jokes, has managed to earn the adulation of the organization’s board of directors and the scorn of his staff. When his negligence leads to the dogshit literally hitting the fan, Diane and her reporter roommate Genie set out to dig up some dirt on him, with a little help from friends in the office.

There's never a bad time for a fun read in which the good guys (or gals) wreak vengeance on a conniving boss who deserves no less

Hi Linda,

We are kindred spirits in our dog-as-healer themed books. Yours goes onto my watchlist right now, and I promise to get to it soon. Meanwhile...

Thanks for considering ANIMAL CRACKER.

Best,

Dear Linda Segall Anable,

I come to Dogs and Goddesses for giggles and good cheer straight from Bruceland, New Jersey. Is your site not active? There’s been no activity since 2009? Regardless, I’m a bit shaken on Authonomy this morning. Someone on site just let me know her comment was meant as “sarcasm.” I’m rather taken aback, as I’ve been Authonomizing in the spirit of fun, meeting friends, and having an adventure. Oh, well, lesson learned.

Your book is soooooooooo California! I better put on my shades as not to be blinded by the light. Now, that is not meant as anything but a great big compliment.

Backed.
