I love historical fiction and this is one of my favourite periods of history. You have captured the character and atmosphere of it perfectly. Extremely well written and erudite. A good idea to provide a glossary at the end too! view book

I love the fact that you have created a fantasy world based on mer-people. Original and different. Very well-written too with lovely images. On my watchlist, but will back soon.

I read 5 chapters then, sadly, had to go and do other things, but I worship at the Shrine of Dog, so I love this! Happy to give it time on my shelf. I also have a rescue dog (my profile pic) and without him I don't know where I would be. Dogs are the most wonderful creatures. Good luck with this book.

Non-fiction and autobiographies are always popular and compelling and you have certainly had a fascinating and very full life. I wouldn't worry too much about your grammar, etc, because when you have a good story, the writing can always be edited and tidied up later. Reading this has made me think about my own, often difficult, life and I sometimes wonder how we get through some of the things that happen to us. I would suggest that you make your paragraphs shorter to make it a smoother and easier read, but that is my only criticism. view book

The first paragraph hooks the reader at once and then you have created a new crime-fighting duo and a very unusual one. This is the sort of partnership that would evolve over perhaps a series of books of their adventures and become something extremely compelling. On my watchlist.

Good luck

This is a great idea for a children's book - but given that the price of electricity keeps going up and the fact that most of the nation seems to be overweight, I'm surprised that someone hasn't already thought of it in the real world! view book

Beautifully written and so easy to read. I immediately sympathised with Isobel. Her awkwardness with David is protrayed so well and yet so economically. It took me back many years to a time when I went through a similar period in life, one I try to forget! Writing of this quality will always resonate with readers.

Children will love this collection of charming little tales. They also seem just right for parents to read to them as bedtime stories. Many stars! view book

Given your age, this is very well written and you definitely have a writing career ahead of you. Your paragraphs are very long, though, and you need to change this. New dialogue should generally start on a new line, too. I find that if you read finished work out loud to yourself, it helps a lot. You tend to hear where something is wrong with the syntax or if something needs punctuating differently. Your writing is certainly very fluent, however, and can only improve with practice. Good luck! view book

I am no stranger to panic attacks and unfounded fears myself, so I could relate to Nathan. This is very quirky, odd, humorous and entertaining! view book

This is very enjoyable! I love the diary format and the dark humour. It's bleak and quirky in a way that only something very English can be! I could easily see this being dramatised as a TV serial. This has to go on my watchlist until there is a place on my shelf! Many stars. view book

As the novel opens, the reader can't help but be hooked by the intriguing start. Even someone like me who knows very little about American history surely wants to know how the story unfolds. The MC is also very likeable and her back story makes her seem very real and deserving of our attention. Great pitch, too. Some errors of punctuation, but nothing that an editor can't deal with. This is on my watchlist for now but is worthy of backing as soon as I have a space.

Good luck with this -

As a lover of history and a native of Mercia, I was drawn into this straight away and am happy to back this very well-written book. I hope this is in print one day and soon.
