Click on "manage my bookshelf." This takes you to a screen that shows your shelf and your watch list. Click 'remove' on a WL book, and it goes away. Click 'remove' on a shelf book and it moves to your WL. If you have 30 books on your WL and want to remove one from your shelf, you'll have to remove one from your WL first. You need the empty space.
