I just uploaded A Lark Ascending. Historical fiction, crime, coming of age, 1920s.

Short Pitch: A boy in London’s Limehouse witnesses a crime and is caught out, but that proves to be the least of his troubles.

First Paragraph:

The cat frightened the boy. Its sudden scream of complaint from under foot sliced through the evening air. If it hadn’t cried out, he would have assumed it was a rat, escaping along the dark labyrinth of back-ways in London’s East End. As the boy righted himself, something caught his shirt. His heart leapt; its frantic pulse coursed up his neck and head. Then the material ripped, releasing him. As Malcolm Roberts ran down the alley, he began to feel the burn at top of his shoulder; must’ve been a nail; must’ve sliced his skin. He hoped he wasn’t leaving a trail of blood for his pursuers. Scuffing sounds and grunts from behind told him the bullies were scaling the brick wall, undeterred.

Walk to Paradise Garden was my first submission. It's good to be back. I look forward to more supportive interactions here.

Here's a review of my first novel, which ran for the desk last year and is now independently published.

I'd be grateful for any support for A Lark Ascending and will return reads. Thank you.
