Just finished Steinbeck's Winter of our Discontent, his last novel. I feel, though it is much different from his work in the 30's, for which he is most admired, it is one of his best novels. Presently, I'm reading Virginia Woolf's Jacob's Room, and nearly finished. I find it a very impressionistic novel, and while perhaps not her best, there are chapters and paragraphs that are simply stunning. Though she aproaches her characters obliquely, I find she cuts to the heart of the human experience, where Joyce, for all his stream of consciousness, often shows only a shallow surface reality. I am thoroughly enjoying Mark Jackson's historically rich adventure thriller, "Atlantis Reborn." http://www.authonomy.com/books/42709/atlantis-reborn/ Posted: 12/05/2012 01:47:15

Re-reading the Ipcress File and, oddly enough, finding it rather tedious and overwritten. I enjoyed it when it first came out in 1962. Currently reading Lilian's book of wonderful short stories Flash in the Pan. And listening to the audio files read in her beautiful (sexy) voice. http://www.authonomy.com/books/43939/flash-in-the-pan/ Posted: 15/05/2012 12:34:16Last Edit: 15/05/2012 12:39:01 by AntoniaMarlowe
