Question about rank

I've just noticed that my rank has gone up. Quite why, I've no idea as I haven't even posted my book yet! All I've done is read a few things, put one book on the shelf and made some comments on the forums.

Have I misunderstood how the rank is calculated? The FAQ has failed to enlighten me, or I've missed the relevant part.

Cheers

You have a book on your shelf (A Place In Life) by Robert Hartstein that is ranked #98 and has been steadily in the ranks. This coulkd be contributing to your TSR multiple. Also, making comments on books seems to influence the score as well.

Many of us have been perplexed by the TSR scores at times. My advice....just go with it.

Thanks. I guess there's a reason the little green arrow reminded me of the stock market, and it wasn't because we've been seeing a lot of little green arrows in the listings lately! It was because it's based on similarly nebulous and inscrutable influences.

P.S. my avatar is lost to cyberspace for the last 48 hours. Does it typically take this long?

Actually, a random number generator creates the TSR number, or a formula that doesn't work all that well. I have backed only ten books the entire time that I have been on here and have been MIA from authonomy for four months, but I'm ranked 233? And have written few if almost any comments.

I hear it's all political. I really don't understand how ratings or rankings work for that matter all i know is that it's irritating when u keep posting chapters and things keep going down. Can someone explain to me, what is the differance and how to get it go up?
