Joy: *her eyes widen slightly. A week... and she'd come fast as fast she could. Strange that she would show up a week later, right after he'd found the demons. She couldn't forgot the feeling she'd had earlier. Somehow she'd known exactly where to find him. But how?*

*She nods slightly, her surprise turning off like a door slamming shut* Really.

Joy: *doesn't answer. Finally she stops walking, saying firmly* This is getting us nowhere. We can cover more ground it we split up.

Dan: *his hands clench as he forces the nerves he suddenly feels back down from his emotions.* Those demons could easily tear you apart. It's safer for us to stay within sight. Or at least hearing.

Joy: *looks over at him, her stubbornness beginning to show. She snaps* So now I can't take care of myself, huh? Just because I've got a superhero boyfriend with big important powers, I can't watch my own back?

*All the frustration and emotion of the past week shows all at once as she snaps* I don't need a babysitter! Just because I don't have powers means I'm not as good as you!

*Joy says before he can reply* I'm going to look for It Tsuke. *She runs off, disappearing into the shadows in seconds*

Dan: *the front suddenly snaps and he roars* Joy, NO!

*he recovers himself, but not before the blackness renews its assault. He gasps silently, and sinks to his knees, the back of his head feeling like it's about to burst. His eyes stubbornly show no colour, but they darken significantly.*

Joy: *ignores his call, so she doesn't see Dan's silent battle. She's already gone, stalking through the forest. Fury burns in her eyes as she walks* Ugh. He's so... so... irritating! What makes him think he can tell me what to do?! I was taking care of myself for years before I met him. And he thinks that now that he's here, I can't do anything myself!

*She shakes her head sharply* Infuriating know-it-all. Just because I don't have powers, people think I can't--

*She suddenly grows quiet. A flash of movement up ahead had caught her eye. Someone... or something... was there*

Dan: *it takes a long while before he can think straight again. He mutters to himself* Ugh, I'd kill for an aspirin.

*he swallows, and stands up. There's no chance he'll find Joy aga... He knew where she was. He couldn't explain it, he knew exactly where she was in relation to him. ...what the?*
*Maybe it was better they were apart, she could look after herself as she had snapped at him. It was cruel to treat her like that, but he had to make completely sure she wasn't going to follow him.*

*The final path was one to walk alone.*
