Audrey: East Prussia! My grandparents are East Prussian too! I feel like we may have had this discussion already... Despite being an archaeologist (unemployed for now, however), I don't write about: - archaeology - the ancient Near East - music - the My Little Pony collection I had as a child (it was massive) - the time I cried when my boyfriend kissed me (not because of skill, before someone makes a comment) Posted: 17/04/2012 23:38:55

I've written a little about my various jobs, but I feel fairly reticent about it. The sequel to Faust's Butterfly will have a much larger role for an English professor (Wayne Wechsler) than he has in Faust's Butterfly, where he gets one brief mention. I think it's going to feel painfully personal. Posted: 18/04/2012 03:19:42

Marmots, many of which I have observed in the mountains of the northern US, are something of which i have never written. I saw a marmot on Mount Rainier once. Posted: 18/04/2012 03:28:36

I haven't yet written about my most memorable date. While watching a movie with a very, very handsome young man, one of us had a problem that required a visit to the hospital. And an overnight in a motel, but not for the reasons you think. And thirty years later, he ran for US Senate. Posted: 18/04/2012 03:37:02
I never met a marmot I didn't like. Cute little characters. But I never met one that liked me. Or if one did, it was too shy to shake hands or come closer than ten feet. Posted: 18/04/2012 03:38:01Last Edit: 18/04/2012 03:44:00 by William Holt
I haven't written about guppies. Yet for several years in my youth I learned selective breeding by culling my stock regularly until I had a pure strain of double swordtail males in my collection. I had six tanks of guppies going at once, with all the filters run from one powerful little Oscar air pump. The collection was my pride and joy, with new babies being born almost daily, fed with brine shrimp, which I was continually hatching out in a couple of light bulb heated gallon jars underneath the fish tanks. Ah, memory. I had nightmares about neglecting my fish and finding most of them dead. Still have them occasionally, after all these years. I haven't written about the ant-colonies on the terrace and the lawn Swarming up in millions each time I put a spade in the dirt. This could be a very Kafkain story with strong paranoia Posted: 20/04/2012 11:51:12
Ants! Goodness, I too have failed to write about them! Posted: 20/04/2012 15:38:58
I just realized that I have never written about all the Chinese restaurants I have patronized, like the one I visited today. Shocking. Posted: 23/04/2012 23:28:16Last Edit: 23/04/2012 23:29:48 by William Holt
