Since you have space on your shelf, I would like to invite you to consider my novel called Solian Chronicles: Pluto Genesis. It is a positive Science Fiction novel of the near future that has gotten some very good reviews. If you could rate and back, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your consideration and I hope you have a good day.

Dear Rick: It pains me terribly to have to bother others, but I seem to be facing the battle of my life. Every time my book even gets in line for the desk, it gets attacked with one stars and a proliferation of abuse messages.

I'm at the rank number 9 right now (after being knocked down from approaching the desk in October). Until this point, I've not requested read swaps, but I promise to read your book if you would be willing to give a look at my workbook and, please, if you feel you can, support it through this month and next as I try, once again, to remain on the desk long enough for an editor to review it.

Thank you so much for any help you might give.
Sincerely, Patricia Laster

Hello,

There is a gold medal winner on your bookshelf! That’s brilliant and it means this probably isn’t the first message you’ve had from someone trying to get their book in its place.

Well, this message is different. This message isn’t about my book - it’s about Elspeth McGregor‘s Paragon. The thing is, if you haven’t seen it already, you will enjoy giving it a go. Elspeth also a very thorough reviewer, if that’s ever what you are looking for.

Kindest wishes,

Lucy

Hi Rick,

Just dropping by to say a big "thank you" for your continued support of Discoredia.

My target is to reach the desk for Halloween as it's only fitting that horror should be represented.

Hopefully I can gather enough comments, stars, watchlists, and shelves to make this a reality, and your help in achieving this is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,

James

Hey Rick, your book "Jack, I am" seems quite interesting. Now, you do not think that there has been a 'Ripper' book in his perspective for over a generation except for that one of yours. However, I have one on this site. It's not all in his perspective, but he is the main, main character. I'm planning on a series, and once the reader is finished with it, they will know Jack as if they'd known him for years. They will know where he came from, why he does the things he does, who he is, what he did on the side, everything. It's called, "Whitechapel", but the name is deceiving. Check it out if you'd like. And would you suggest I read your book? I am only sixteen, so.

This is my first book, the death of my son gave me the strength to start writing it. It is all real, but sometimes, it reads as a fiction. Incredible stories. Please take the time to check it out and give me very needed feedback and a little help to get noticed by the publishers. Thank you

Hey there, Rick. My investigative piece ‘THE CASE OF THE DROWNING MEN: Investigating the Smiley Face Serial Murder Theory’ will be featured this month in Crime Magazine, a leading resource for followers of true crime. I’ve also previewed it on Authonomy this week. You up for solving some murders…?

(And if you hate the book, then please consider backing the other truly excellent ones on my shelf—tons of talented writers on this site who could really use some extra support!)

Kind regards to you, and best wishes—
E.R.

If you're looking for a new book to read and back, I’d be honored if you’d consider No Kiss Good-bye. It’s unlike any other story on authonomy and one that you’ll live and feel with all your senses. It’s my true-life story of escaping communist Romania along switchbacks that eventually led to America.

Here’s the link: http://www.authonomy.com/books/39263/no-kiss-good-bye. Thank you so much!

Hi there – sorry to bother but I am seriously seeking some advice.

I have been on the site for a few days now and have re-written the first couple of chapters of my book according to the tons of advice received so far…My name is Craig Zerf and I currently have 2 books with my agent, Ian Drury of Sheil Land agencies. The first novel that Ian accepted was not taken up by any publishers despite having been very favourably reviewed by 2 best selling authors; Michael Marshall (The Straw Men, The Intruders, The Lonely Dead) who said that it was one of the best books that he had read in recent years, and Meg Rosoff (How I Live Now, Just In Case) who said "I think that you are a fantastic writer. The story is tragic and blood-curdling and extraordinary."

It’s very frustrating so I have opted to put it out here and try my hardest to get some unbiased advice. I would really appreciate it if you could take a look at my script (or even just the first chapter or so) and tell me what you think. Thanks ever so much – Craig (Zuffles).
THE BROKEN MEN - The best of boyhood friends, Leon and Pete, grow up in South Africa during the hatred and turmoil of the Apartheid era. Like every other white male between the ages of sixteen and sixty-five they are conscripted into the army in order to fight for the continuance of the white regime.
In this maelstrom of Apartheid and war the two friends become the most deadly of enemies. Together they are drawn into a path of death, violence and brutality that spans the oceans from Southern Africa to the United Kingdom

Hi Rick,

Shame about our now defunct crime/thriller review group but there you go!

I just wanted to say a huge thank-you for your feedback, which may have been a small contribution, but without it, we wouldn't have worked half as hard as we did to produce a more polished manuscript.

Without our experience here I doubt if we would have had the impetus to indie publish but here we are…. At last….

Hello everyone,

I hope that you are all had a wonderful weekend. I want to take a moment to address an issue that has been raised on the thread. And, to be honest, it is one that I have been thinking about. That issue is active and inactive members.

There are a lot of critique groups on Autho and they all approach this issue differently. I considered just making the change, but this isn’t just my group. And while, ultimately, I will make the final decision, I would like your input.

We now have 54 books up for review. That is a phenomenal response to such a new group. I am very happy that we have been able to fill a void for the Horror genre that has been sadly lacking on Authonomy. Several of you have jumped right in and offered reviews on a consistent basis, giving of both your time and talents.

We are now 8 weeks in and experiencing growing pains. It was never my intention to make a list of books that you ‘have’ to review. But, having said that, this is a critique group. You get out of it what you put into it.

My suggestion is to create two members lists. An Active list and a Pending list. When you join the group you will be added to the Pending list. Once you have completed X number of reviews you and your book will be added to the Active list and your book will be eligible for review.

There will be no time-frame for how fast the reviews have to be done. That way if an issue arises you won’t have to worry about taking a week off or having to start over.

The question that I am posing is how many books to be reviewed should it take to become active?

Please take some time to share your thoughts ‘on the thread’ not in this message. I will be making the change for next week. And as a result Shannon’s book will not be reviewed. I know that is unfair to Shannon, and I am very sorry. But I have to make the cut-off somewhere.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Best regards,

Sharon
