Hi Gabriel,

I've just added A Patch of Dappled Sun to my WL...

I'm currently on the hunt for books that appeal to me, and not just any ol' book... I'm in the middle of a bunch of 'return reads' at the moment but should be able to get to yours soon.

I was hoping you'd consider my "It Never Happened" as well? It's very close to the desk at this point, and I need all the support/feedback I can get!

thanks in advance,
Jaclyn x

Dear friend, would you mind read one of the later chapters of my book and comment. If you see any grammar flaw please pinpoint them. I will support yours in turn. Thanks in advance.

Hello Gabriel,

Hope you are well. Maybe you would like to try out my new satire, Doghouse Blues. Here is an endorsement:

I was attracted to Doghouse Blues from the pitch alone because it was so very different. There are so many budding writers out there who want to earn the same sort of money as J K Rowling by writing exactly the same kind of book and , to be frank, I am getting a bit tired of it.
This, on the other hand, struck me as being an original piece of work. The product of a lively mind and written by someone who is an excellent observer of the real world out there and who knows how to translate his observations into print. Just the right amount of dialogue, which carries the story along well.
I have not read the complete book (yet) but have dipped into it fairly freely to see if the momentum is maintained. It certainly is.
Philip John

Looking forward to reading your comments on the Doghouse Blues webpage.

All the best,

Clive

Hello, my name is James Revino. I am the author of ‘Hollow.’ I was wondering if you might be able to take a look at my work and tell me what you think, good and bad. Any critique would be much appreciated, it is the best way to improve. Of course, if you wanted to back it, that would be great as well. Have a good day, and thanks for your time.

Hi Gabriel
This is a second and more official invite to come and join the Ghost Shirt Warriors. Once you read chapter 1 you will know why Angus and Little Wing need your help.
As you will see from my profie page all reads are returned. I know I asked before but like Goddard I don't want my book fading like pale battalions.
Thanks

Hi Gabriel,

“Informers and blackmailers, phrenologists and dissectionists, lowlifes and murderers in early Victorian Dublin.”

I’d really appreciate it if you could have a look at the start of my first novel, The Morning Drop.

I’m happy to return the read.

Cheers,
Andrew.

Hi there - just extending the hand of friendship.

I'm still fairly new to the site, but I've found it to be an extremely constructive and rewarding experience so far, though it does pay to have a thick skin sometimes.

Backing books, making friends – that seems to be the way to raise the profile, so here I am. It would be fantastic to hear from you.

All the best, have a great day - Cas

PS: If you do happen to get the uncontrollable urge to look at either of my books, here are the links
http://authonomy.com/books/42586/slow-poison/
http://www.authonomy.com/books/42590/bloodstones/

Slow Poison is dark and brutal, Bloodstones is a gentler read, but gets tougher as the story progresses. A little like Larsson, Welsh, Niffenegger I have been told. (…but I haven’t read any of their work yet…so you’ll have to be the judge of that…)

I'm fairly new here. How did you get your book known to the community?

Permac wrote 394 days ago

If you already have, please forgive this note
And thank you for reading the words that we wrote.
But if you have not, then please read more
It might make you happier than you were before.

If you feel so inclined please take a look.
Go to our page and read our book.
If you do, you may start to care
When you reach the end you’ll yell, “Not Fair!”

“You left me hanging, I want to know more!”
So help us get to number four.
Leave a comment, maybe rate,
We’ll call you awesome, outstanding, and great.

If you’ll read ours, then we’ll read yours,
As authors we just can’t close any doors.
And if you’d back us, that would be fine,
(Might even boost us to number nine!)

To have our book published is our goal
And if you help us with heart and soul
Forever grateful we would be
(And we’ll help you to get to number three!)

Thanks so much for all you do
We will try to help you too
We wish you well, please be quite hearty
Maybe we’ll meet at the launching party!

Why are we here? What’s the purpose to life? What is God anyway? A great, mind-rocking epic drama between good and evil is being played out and our whole planet is the stage! In stunning clarity, an ancient Celestial Proposal emerges from the blueprints of creation for the spiritual advancement of our human race to join the ranks of immortal beings. I'd exchange critiques with pleasure.

Hello Gabriel,

To a world scarred by the atrocities done by various terrorist cells, twelve years of peace is only a temporary solace.

‘Ozoneraser’ belongs to the Slipstream Science Fiction genre that involves the disappearance of eight million appearances. Al-Jihad, the terrorist outfit responsible for these disappearances has stumbled across a technological breakthrough that threatens to cause much greater havoc. Now, it is upto the “President of the United States” to get to the bottom of these disappearances and hopefully stop the Al-Jihad before they destroy the world. Will he be able to defy all those who question his powers and save all those he can or will the world succumb to the atrocities of the Al-Jihad?

May I request you to kindly have a look at my book and let me know what you think? I will be happy to read your work and give my opinion.

Thanks,
Venkatarama Dandibhotla

Hi

This is an invitation for you to post a least one paragraph of your opening in the forum and subject it to some critical feedback. If you’re feeling brave, go to the forum page and look under the file:

On Writing, FAT (aka Faux Agent Thread)

The rules are at the top of page 2 of the thread. They are simple.

Post at least one paragraph of your novel’s opening (you can post up to 600 words) and then the rest of us will pretend we are literary agents reading the partial we requested from you.

Unlike a real agent (who would just send out a generic rejection letter) the faux agent will tell you exactly when (or if) they stopped reading. They will then explain specifically what caused them to reject your partial submission (grammar, cliché, etc.)

Submission Format: Yes, this is critical (both here and in the real world)

Title:
Genre:
Short pitch:
Book Link:

Chapter 1: (up to 600 words)

The main point of the thread is to get your book some attention and feedback. Our contributing faux agents are a diverse lot, so when it comes time to consider their advice, remember, caveat emptor.

If you take issue with something an agent said, or just want to start a debate or ask for additional feedback, go to the thread titled, “Faux agent water cooler” and post there.

Cheers…

Jack Cerro “The Nymph’s Heart”

Ps: If your post gets lost in the slush pile, or you want more feedback, just submit it again.

Pps: There is another version of this thread called, “If I were an agent, I’d stop reading now” That thread has been hijacked by trolls. (post there if you like)
I want to keep the focus of this thread on the authors, not the faux agents. You are also encouraged to put on your agent hat and give feedback.

Dear Alan

If you are looking for something unusual, you might enjoy Chasing Pharaohs, a fiction book set in 18th Dynasty Egypt. If you have backed it before, a subsequent backing would be much appreciated.

A dark premise brings spiritual conflict, compelling characters and the quest for truth. Pitch: Three warriors battle an enemy unlike any other. A shadow that outwits all shadows - a thief in the night to cast down kings.

Vengeance, love, and endurance are some of the many characteristics of this book. I would be honored if it finds a place on your shelf.
