Yes, it does. I read someone griping in the forums about how making the Editor's Desk is "failure" if you don't get picked up by HC, so they did not intend to use it as a credit in their queries. According to that line of thinking, anything other than first place is a loss, rather than a win. I think that is crazy! It still means you beat out thousands of other people!! When I added the HC gold medal to my query letter I got serious responses for the first time. Things are going well since then. Went to two conferences this spring and met an acquisitions editor from Harlequin/Mira and a well known agent, both of whom loved the beginning of I Love CHocolate and asked for the full ms. Better still, the two are friends and work together often. Sending the first 100 pgs to the agent this week. I hope it will look like an easy sale to her, since the editor already likes it. Also, after I advised you to try small presses, I took my own advice and queried several for SECRETS. Got a bite from one and they made me an offer, which I am considering. Want to see what happens with the agent first, she may want Secrets too. But it sure is nice to have a backup plan, and I'm really hoping not to self-publish again just now.

Just a thought. Would Flynn having his own chapters help in any way make him a less unsympathetic character? Or just tell me to shut up!

Hi Juliet
See you've changed the title. Are you doing a complete overhaul?
Hope you're well. Have you submitted again? Writing anything new? I'm 30,000 into a new work, at this stage enjoying it - lots of confidence etc. Just sent out Cousins again, always have hope!!!
Best wishes Robert

Juliet Ann,
You might want to click on to www.scribd.com/dloganw whereby David Welch interviews me regarding the North Korean situation in "Nuts in the North." This could be a good venue for your book to get Twitter exposure.

Thank you for your constructive comments and compliments! You are right about adding more "flesh" to the family components. As this is my first draft, I tend to get my main ideas on paper and then I go back and detail people out. With the first book I wrote, the final edition looked little like the first draft:)
And you are also right on bringing in Corrie's past life in the city; however, to be honest, not quite sure what it was yet. I'm hoping that will come to me as a right!
Where do you think a good place is for Violet to enter??? I'm not sure where, but I do know that I have to move her.
Thanks again for taking the time to read and critique my writing!

Juliet thank you so much for your generous critique and for backing for good! I think we have some reading tastes in common, from your profile. I will try to respond a little more closely on my return home (tomorrow)...just on a flying visit with intermitttent internet. Best wishes, jane.

Thank you so much. Most of the joy in writing is imagining a different world through someone else's eyes. I'm glad you liked them, I'm trying to get everything sorted out before starting to rewrite.

What's new with you? Long time no comment. Did you see the link I posted to open submissions for the new Harper Collins imprint? You should do it! Your book is one of the best.

Truly sorry to hear that. Hope the new writing's going well. Will we see it? I've been incredibly lazy, not bothering to send The Cousins out anywhere else. But I will do. Why not? It's no good stuck in a computer. Have written 25,000 words of a new novel which, of course, at this stage I feel pleased with. That will all change, no doubt.
Do keep in touch. Best wishes for now and keep going, I know you will.

Hi Juliet
Just thought I'd catch up - how's it going with the agent? Hope you've got around to sending it!
Best wishes, Robert

Hello, my name is James Revino. I am the author of ‘Hollow.’ I was wondering if you might be able to take a look at my work and tell me what you think, good and bad. Any critique would be much appreciated, it is the best way to improve. Of course, if you enjoyed it, a backing would be great as well. Have a good day, and thanks for your time.

I thought you might like to know I have started a blog. A very nice agent turned me away in a very positve way with Coping - she wants me to send her more when it's polished and also she suggested starting a blog, which is what I've done. You can find it here: http://itsallaboutpoo.blogspot.co.uk/
