Thanks for such a thorough review!

By the way, The Stuttering Bard of York has no intentional relation to the shows of the 90s that you reference. We didn't have a TV in our house when I was growing up so I am pretty ignorant of what was on TV at that time. Of course, I was reading books and perhaps the books were influenced by TV, I don't know.

Curiously enough, I was pondering recently what were influences on The Stuttering Bard of York and it suddenly occurred to me that I was introduced to A Gent From Bear Creek by Robert E. Howard at a young age. Looking back, I can see how that book exerted a strong subliminal influence on my novel.

A Gent From Bear Creek is very different from Howard's Conan, etc stories. It is quite hilarious in my opinion. You can find it available for free online: http://manybooks.net/titles/howardrother100608611.html

And, of course, if you'd like to see how Ben's adventures continue my second novel is available for free download from my website.

Hey, David, your book sounds like fun! I would love to get on your reading list! You sound like you love writing as much as I do. I love writing for YA and taking them thru fast paced adventures that they will never forget, and will want their kids to read! I like to think Jessup and the Teleporter will one day rank up there with the other classics. lol Would you consider checking out Jessup and the Teleporter? I will swap reads with you! I am dropping a couple of points, and am worried I will fall off the top ten. If you think my book is worthy, I would be honored if you put it on your shelf for a couple of months 'til it gets to the desk. Any help you can offer would be humbly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Donna
Jessup and the Teleporter

I also grew up with The Giver and Maniac Magee. Sadly, that does not seem to be what is successful anymore.

I would disagree that your novel progresses more quickly than those great classics, but to each their own.

Sorry I couldn't be more positive in my review but I suppose there must be one of us who doesn't get the story, right?

Hi David,

Would you like to join the Christian Lit Forum?

Follow this link if you do:

http://authonomy.com/forums/threads/111114/christian-lit-forum-2/

We agree to criticise at least one book every 2 weeks. We always do the book on the Schedule, and you can do any other book on our list as and when you like..

The only way you will go up the list and on to the Schedule is to criticise the books on it. See the first page of CLF2 for the procedure.

Also the is the Christian Critique and Review Group, which is slightly different. See:

I was looking over Traveler of the Mists: What I am Forming... it really is sort of out of my normal reading genre. I think most of what I could add has already been addressed in previous comments. Keep at it though. You certainly have put quite a bit of effort into it. :)

Let's just be up front. I'm not a young writer anymore. And I'm so done with editing and re-editing and going back and changing stuff then changing the stuff I changed. Basically 'Infinite Limits' is what it is at this point. Thanks for the workshop site but I JUST CAN'T DO IT ANYMORE.

I love sci-fi though. And lady Jessica has always been one of my fave Dune characters, so I likes the name of your dame. Will give er a look for sure.

I appreciate that Torkuda. I do love reading new authors and I hope that in six months or a year I will be able to look back on all of this and sit down and read some of these books! :)

Hello! Thanks so much for your message and interest. I am enjoying being a member of authonomy. I live about 15 km from the closest Internet connection so I'm not able to read as many books online as I'd like. I'm only able to check my messages and email a few times a week as well. So it's not that I'm not interested in reading your work, I just don't have the resources to commit to it at the moment. I am continuously impressed with anyone who takes the time and effort to write anything.
Best,
Stephen

Ah sorry for the misunderstanding! 'Finders' will go on my WL straight away :)

rachel_mary wrote 17 days ago

In that case I'd love to do a swap read :)

Likewise, commitments have piled up, but I would really appreciate a full read and will naturally offer the same in return.
Is it 'Traveller of the Mists' you'd like me to take a look at?
I also have a blog reviewing books and films and will attempt to write something similar for any complete read I do on here.

Looking forward to the swap!

Hi Tokuda,

Really nice to hear from you. As a new member I've had loads of swap read requests, so I've come up with a system.

More experienced authonomy members inform me that it is site etiquette for the writer who suggests a swap to read, rate and comment first on the other person's book first. Also I am making it a priority to read the books of anyone kind enough to take the time to look at my book 'The Diver's Brilliant Bow', so if you decide to do this you can be sure that I'll return the favour!

That said, you can go straight on my watch list for paying attention to the sort of fiction I said I'd like to read in my bio :)

All the best,
Rachel

Ok, I will try to take a look at Finders. It might not be until next weekend as I don't have a lot of time for Authonomy during the week.

Hi David
I tried to read your book but to be honest I am not a Sci-Fi reader and so gave up half way through the first chapter, sorry. You do not have to read my Mary's Magic Muffins & Other Tales for Children now. Thank you for your offer though.
Brian.

Babybaulch wrote 20 days ago

Okay, I accept your offer though I'm not sure I could do a five page review, I can still review it when I am done reading it.

Yeah you're right and I have given it another go, but I have never felt comfortable selling myself so I would never be able to do a proper sales pitch. That said an awkward, self-conscious pitch probably reflects the book better.

Hi
I've made it to no 20 and I'm looking for some support to take me nearer the coveted ED. If you would like to support Mary's Magic Muffins & Other Tales for Children for a while I'd be extremely grateful. I return all reads with an honest feedback, as I think it is better to be honest. If you'd like to read swap let me know. I will be on authonomy here for a long time and will support those who have helped me. Thank you for taking the time to read this message. Hope to hear from you soon.
Brian.

Thank you for your message, however I didn't come to authonomy to get help with my book. I came in hopes of getting it published. I like the feedback when it's given, but I'm not looking for a massive critique.

Unfortunately your story doesn't sound like something I would be interested in, but I wish you all the best here and I hope you succeed.

Yes, you're welcome to use my story in Traveler of the Mists. Don't think I'll have the time to write it myself, currently torn between the sequel to Awakening, a new story that won't leave me alone, and finals. You're welcome to write it, would be interesting to read your take on it. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have.
My last exam is on May 15, I believe, so I'll read Traveler of the Mists around then, hopefully.
And sure, I'll back it. Don't know what's going on with my book as I've not been active in critiquing, etc. though I'm not particularly concerned at the moment. I want to edit/rewrite the beginning couple chapters first.

Torkuda,

Thanks for backing my book The Stuttering Bard of York! I hope you continue to enjoy your reading, and find the books resolution to your satisfaction.

Thank you so much! Like I said in bio...you can read the rest on amazon.com. Proceeds are goingto other mental health facilities and burn survivors. I want to help people so much and inspire them. Not have them do anything drastic like I did. Thank you for your support. I will read yours asap. Have a great day!!

Bethany:)
