Hello, my name is James Revino, I am the author of ‘The World Blinked.’ I was wondering if you'd take a look at it and tell me what you think. Of course, if you would rate it and back it that would be much appreciated as well. Have a good one.

Everyone knows the rule: stay inside the Wall, but to sixteen year-old Tisha Tremayne, the city of Relic isn't a sanctuary. It's a prison.

Hello KJC,

I'm looking for people who may be interested in reading my young adult fantasy, Relic, and I would be honoured if you were to take a look at my efforts. If you have time to give it a spin on your shelf and/or comment, then even better!

I know you don't have a book on authonomy, but if there is one you are currently supporting up the ranks, then I would happily give it my backing at your request.

Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you!

I would love to hear your thoughts on The Kid: A True Story of Cocaine, Corruption, Deceit and Betrayal.

It tells how a tragic accident changed the life of a young English sportsman, turning him from a hero who represented his country into a hardened criminal on the run.

Raw, honest, funny and moving, coming clean about his story in this book he is now 'going straight' again.

Any feedback you have would be very welcome – and if you think it's worth backing, we'd be very grateful!

Best wishes

Karen xx

PS If you've already shelved The Kid, please forgive me! Computer glitches have played havoc with my records!

This is perhaps one of the most literary book title I've come across on this site. So much symbolic subtext conveyed so elequently. I lov it! Care to swap reads? If so please let me know. I’m interested in exchanging critical feedback with people. My manuscript is called The Age of Rhinestone. I will return all favors.

cheers

I commented/backed your book 143 days ago - though my book has been on this site for over a year, I still can use comments to better my novel; please SHELVE it if you deem it worthy enough.

If you think you’ve already BACKED my book, I ask if you wouldn’t mind giving it another quick spin on your shelf, as some people this week, who thought they’d previously backed it, had it finally registered in my activity feed. I understand if you don't have time to comment but I can use all BACKINGS in my position - cheers!

Hi Karen,

Glad to hear you've sorted out your computer! Congratulations on The Ironing Board . . . I’ve just backed it. I hope you might find The Glass Harmonica equally entertaining.

Kind regards,
Richard Milton

I commented on and backed your book about four weeks ago. Wondering if you can find the time to look at mine - Grain of Salt – and put it on your shelf for a while. It's a medical mystery. Hard for it to compete with all the vampires and demons here but it's a good read. Thanking you in advance. Burgio

Hi Karen,

I am really sorry to have to do this, I don’t like pleading, but I do need help, I'm at no.4 and falling.

I love to write as does everyone on this site and I’d love to get my work published. I’m not kidding myself, I don’t think Harper Collins are going to publish my work, if they haven’t contacted me up to now, but I do think making the editors desk will be a good way to get my work noticed by agents and publishers.

I have been a genuine, active member of this site for seven months and I hope my comments and backings have been helpful to others, but it is now my turn to sit on the desk. With two days left there is a lot of jostling and I’m afraid I’ll be pushed off.

If you have not supported my work in the past, I am hoping you might do so now. I am extremely sorry to hassle or annoy you but I have little option left. If you have supported my work please accept my apologies, I mean it when I say I really don’t like doing this.

I have a good TSR and I will return all comments/reads and at this stage I will also return backings within a few days.

Please don’t make me an April fool!

Dear Karen Chatelain,

Last call for GHOST WARRIOR. After my story reaches the Editor’s Desk at the end of this month, I’ll no longer guarantee a return read.

Until then, I will return comment for comment. I put some thought into my feedback, but if you lack the time to leave any, I’ll understand. Should you still wish to support my story, I will return the backing if I believe your target market will enjoy your manuscript. Or I’ll message you with a concern I have, hoping you’ll fix the problem then ask me to read it again so I can reward the improvement.

Happy reading.

Hi there,

I’m trying to reach the Ed in April as I have an important deadline to meet by May. This is my last chance to make my dream come true, so I would really appreciate it if you could put me on your shelf, even if its only for a couple of minutes. A second backing will count, even if you have backed me before.

I will be watching my newsfeed for your reply/backing so I can immediately thank you for your support/reciprocate (you get the most points from me, because of my high TSR). Even if you dislike YA fantasy/sci-fi - I have found that most people enjoy my writing…

Many thanks, Sana

Apocalypse Then

Gunslinger wrote 1168 days ago

Greetings, fellow Authonomite—

As I write this, I’m sitting at number 5 on the Editor’s Desk with 3 weeks to go, and if you’re one of those who helped get my book to where it is, I wanted to take a moment and express my heartfelt thanks. I also wanted to acknowledge that I owe more than a few reads, and when March Madness is over, anyone who has left me feedback can expect some close reading and a thoughtful comment from me in return.

Really, your support has meant a great deal to me. I lost my father in January and came very close to dropping out of the race altogether, but a few kind words from generous readers kept me going. I don’t know what else to say without sounding trite or insincere, so I’ll simply say thank you very, very much.

Also, if you haven’t backed Every Atom Belonging yet, I’d like to invite you to take in a chapter or two and decide for yourself whether or not it truly deserves to be on the Desk at the end of the month. Your time and consideration are greatly appreciated.

With gratitude,
Dan McKinnis (aka Gunslinger)

"Easily one of the best books I've read on Authonomy"

"probably the best book I've come across on here"

"so well written that the pages seem to turn by themselves"

"Disturbing, engaging, compelling, one big car crash if a read!"

Just some of the things being said about this week's no. 1 book.

Apocalypse Then!

To all with red arrows: An encouraging message.

I went through the ED list page by page counting red and green arrows

Red outnumber green by anywhere from 2 to 1 to 4 to 1 on virtually every page. The average is probably 3 to 1.

That tells me most people are getting discouraged and giving up, meaning less competition for those who try. That is why Alan Marling, Mark Reece, and Jesse Hargreaves (who left, by the way) and others were able to move so fast. They kept their momentum going. That is the key.

It is possible to keep moving without working full time a it. Just recycle your book through the "edit the book" function once or twice a day to keep it on or near Page One of "latest books" and people will find it. Respond to those who read and comment and your book will stay green most of the time and rise through the red stuff.

I did that while I worked on mine and I got to 150 in a few months time.
After that it was work. But with so many people giving up, it becomes easier for those who don't.

I'm watch listing books as I do this that I haven't yet seen, so be patient.

If you want more immediate attention, please look at my book and decide for yourself if you think it is worth backing. As the title suggests, it's modeled on Don Quixote. It's at 28 and still struggling up the slopes of Everest, but it's only just reached base camp and the hardest climb is yet to come.

I return all reads and most backings and my TSR is 12.

Chin up.

Thank you.
