Wow, ambitious stuff. Paranormal/reglious stuff not usually my bag, but I liked all the different threads to follow (something for everyone) and any first chapter than reunites all four Beatles is alright by me!!!
Your writing is excellent, as a reader there was nothing for my brain to snag on, it all flowed smoothly.
Best of luck with this, I will def highly star it.

I loved the first chapter. It was really unique to me. Not the judgement day, but the way you've described it.
I was very intrigued all the way through wondering if that damn plane was going to crash!
Then I go to chapter two and find I'm in 1938!
A bit dissapointed, I wanted to know about the afterlife or whatever you have dreampt up.
But the second chapter turned out to be just as interesting and I wanted that to go on.
I'm sure by now you've guessed I was totally sucked into this story.
I wish I could read on, but don't have time at the moment. So I'll try and get back to it.
Because this is just a really interesting and extremely entertaining book.
I mean it. It's so different from all the others I've read here!
I wish you well and good luck with your book, it deserves to be published. [ENDQUOTE]

Thanks for looking at 'Clareza'. It needs a makeover, at the moment I'm making 'Marvel' better and then I will move on to the other. Wasn't too happy with the Nazi resolution, and the proceeding story has been trumped by a better idea. I'll work on it! :) xx

Comment from orma - 01/12/2011 21:58:45

Paranormal Thread

It all seems very plausible and real, a testament to your writing skills. Narrative and dialogue are great,as is the plot.

Is the apple tree your own creation, or is there some basis for it in myth or reality? Nice touch, a variation of the Tree of Life.

Great read.

Hi,

It was my own creation, although obviously with the tree of life in mind. It developed as McGuffin that could make things a bit complicated for people at the end of days. :)

Despite the premise of immortality or longevity the theme has credence, the dialogue is believable and the characterisation is life like. A work which causes the reader no difficulty in suspending his belief to become totally immersed in a tale well told. Robert Davidson. Welcome to the site.

I was very intrigued by you short pitch as well as the long one. I also believe that the first line is very important, and needs to be a hook so that the reader would want to read on. I find however, that your heading, which takes place before the first line, is a definate put off, for me, and I believe for many others, though not all. Your novel is catetorised as Religious, amongst other categories. Profanity or implied profanity together with blasphemy does not sit well with religion.

If you do edit, please let me know, and I will take another look.

You have a point there.

Whilst the book has religious themes, It isn't necessarily a book *about* religion as such, its about the events following a religious event. Perhaps I shouldn't place it under 'religious' category? And yes, the first line, upon reflection, is far too flippant. Yes, there are comedic moments but it should be more subtle. I'll admit I had a douglas adams moment there.

Comment from La Marmonie - 28/10/2010 14:42:17

Stuart,
