Sophie was born the second child in her family, a fate worse then death. After the King made a treaty with the Witch on Dark Mountain all second children are to be cursed. The curses are always unique and always terrible. Sophie is cursed with electricity in her hands. She cannot ever touch someone without her gloves on. After her sister runs away to be married to a man she barley knows Sophie becomes engaged to the prince, whom her sister was promised to. She is ecstatic she had loved him since they were children but her curse could cause more problems for her than she ever expected. Two sinister characters appear and are out to get Sophie out of the castle an. Sophie is trying desperately to uncover their plot, while taking lessons on how to be a royal and making the prince love her back. With the help of friends Sophie will try to fulfill her promise to marry him and hopefully reverse her curse. She didn't expect her arch rival Nelan to go as far as she does to get rid of Sophie, so far as to sacrifice the prince's own life.
