Young Marines are challenged by the Iraq war. The Marines must fight, but far from home, the only source of dependence is each other.
This story talks about two young men. One is Pfc. Martinez, the latter is fallaciously enlisted in the USMC. He was jsut trying to go to college and improve his life, but now he is presented with the hardship that a military life presents.
The other young man is names Hardy, he is an average student and he is also poor. Without many options of work or education he enlists in the USMC to try to find a better living.
Both young men meet in Parris Island, both become buddies. Hardy must a fight a greater battle, a war, without knowing the true causes of the latter, he must give his sweat, his tears and his blood so that America may have a chance at this quagmire.
Martinez and Hardy may come from different places, but they share the same belief. That there is something sound and just in this world.
The book ilustrates the hardship of war, it has many nerve racking Iraq danger moments. The M-16 is widely used, the .240, the .50, all weapons that Americans used to fight the insurgents. War is nerve racking, read and be on the edge
