about me

The Awakening is out now on Kindle! If anyone wants to buy a copy it can be found here:

UK: http://goo.gl/SL7YQ

US: http://goo.gl/EEYH3

I hope you enjoy it. (And if you do, I would be really grateful for any reviews/likes etc) :)

I'm a 27 year old born in London, but currently living in Birmingham. I left work to pursue my career as a writer. Currently I'm studying English and Creative Writing at Birmingham University. At the same time I'm penning the sequel 'The Veil' which will be release 31st March 2013. I love writing and it's what I plan to do for the rest of my life. Simple as that! :-)

Any comments you make on The Awakening and The Veil are welcome! Constructive criticism is appreciated too.
Thanks to all those who have backed me already. If you read my work and comment, back etc, I will try my hardest to return the favour (although I will only back if the book really stands out for me).

Thanks :)

Stuart Meczes

The struggle of a socially awkward teenager, as he is thrown into a world of supernatural dangers.

Alexander Eden is unhappy. A geeky, social pariah, he is the victim of perpetual bullying at school. His home life isn't much better with a stepfather who resents him and a half brother who is better than him at everything.

However, that all changes the day the mysterious and beautiful Gabriella De Luca walks into his life. Everyone wants to know her, to be with her. But she is interested in Alex.
Because Alex is different.

Soon after he is thrown into a world he never thought possible. A world where he and others like him are the last line of defence. A world where an ancient unspeakable evil lurks.
Evil which seeks to consume him.

Well, what can I say other than this blew my mind, it's that good! Your descriptions are visceral and so well observed that I am drawn in, able to see the events unfolding in front of me. The use of first person is balanced perfectly here, with engaging self reflection and keen account of outward ev... view book

This is going to do very well! The preface gives us a great introduction into the mind of a psychopath. It seems very well researched. Ben's outwardly good looking appearance really adds to the tension, emphasising the idea that it is not always the socially awkward outcast who ends up being the ... view book

I read the first three chapters and instantly loved it. This is one book I will definitely be returning to! I love the way you describe Percy and his harrased scatty nature, which contrasts perfectly against Cuthberts relaxed sarcastic attitude. Your use of metaphors and similies are brilliant and ... view book

I absolutely love this. The dialogue is natural and believable. The characters are bold and come to life. To me I can see them in my mind very clearly. I plan to read the whole of this as soon as I have a chance!. I'm sure this will do really well. Only small thing I would say is that at the very st... view book
