I love the depth of the narrative in the opening as it draws me onwards and takes me into the work. If a work does not have a start of this quality I find it difficult to continue. I do read childrens books in German, Spanish and French to help me learn, but always try to find some historical fiction so that I do not bore. Have read 3 chapters. I felt like I was there with your character, but did not feel any empathy with him.
