about me

I'm a 23 year old software engineer who has developed an interest in writing over the past few years. I'm very interested in metaphysical concepts in both literature and life in general, and I'm especially intrigued by emotions, relationships, and morality. Naturally, I think my writing reflects (or will reflect) that.

I will never offer feedback unless I'll receive it in return. I'm in this to promote my book just like everyone else, and charity isn't going to make that happen. However, once I get that confirmation, I'll read and review quickly, probably the same day or the next. I back works I like, and if I back you, you can expect to stay on my bookshelf until I find a replacement. Lower ranked books will always get backing priority over higher ranked ones.

The Burden of Humanity

Jared Brayshaw

Drafted to fight unknown attackers, Markus must face the true nature of both his allies and enemies while confronting his own morals and human worth.

Markus is a sixteen year old who’s lived in Switzerland all his life. However, as an earthquake in Spain brings with it swarms of robotic attackers, he is drafted to defend Europe from the new threat. Caught in the turbulence of war, Markus is forced to re-evaluate his worth as an individual and as a human being, as well try to understand his motivations for fighting. His relationships with others inspire these revelations, and they shape his understanding of morality and humanity as he decides what's truly important in life.

You captured my interest immediately from your story's pitch, and I think this is the first time that I wanted to read a story for the sake of reading it, rather than just as a way to accumulate attention and support for my own story. I've made it through the first three chapters, and here are my t... view book

I read through the first four chapters, so here are my thoughts for each. Chapter 1: I liked the opening, but I think you were a bit off on some physiological points. A broken jaw should do MUCH more than ache and throb. Also, going unconscious is more a sense of displacement (dream-like, if y... view book

I kind of do too, if only for the sake of balance, but the school scenes are really only there to provide a contrast from the military lifestyle. However, that setting comes back in a big way for Chapter 18; I'll try to get that up ASAP. [QUOTE]Though about half way through I wish you would ha... view book

I read through the first five chapters; here are my thoughts for each. Chapter 1: It's very interesting to read a story that is clearly written by a German yet is conveyed in perfect English. The German locations and dialogue add realism and legitimacy to the scenes. Furthermore, the quick pac... view book

Alright, I've read through the first five chapters, and I like what I see so far. Here are my thoughts. Chapter 1: I think someone else mentioned this, but unless the fencing is foreshadowing something else in the story (Kelly becoming skilled in swordsmanship or something), leave it out and st... view book
