HI Claire:
I see a distinct similarity and yet a vast difference in the two books. So many colourful phrases intertwined between dialogue and descriptions. I find, perhaps because I'm not well versed on ancient Eygpt., i needd to slow down my reading and take in every word.
I did find one typo in Ch 1 The paragraph after his wife pays for his crime.
He closed (his) eyes you missed- his...
Not sure if the next one is a mistake or not but perhaps you can take a look He cries out no It wasn't true It couldn't be true. It seems to have a present then past then present tense in there.
Anyhow I thoroughly enjoyed the read.
The best of luck with the book

I have only read the first couple of chapters. A difficult subject to write about, yet you capture this so well in your writing. I have given this high stars and hope to get back to read more

I read the first 2 chapters and must say I found myself feeling sorry for the teddy.: damaged goods. As well he hated his name BoBo which was written on his cap. Poor teddy his only friend dying. Like Richard Maitland I can not read on in fear of what this poor bear may endure. It truly is a great story, one that captures your heart!

I have read the first 3 chapters. It reads with a poetic voice. So well done. I can picture Boby and Lily's miserable life. Locked up on the third floor with nothing more than 1 sheet and a book. I am hooked and will need to read on.
My only qualm, small as it may be, is when their mummy has a tear. I find it hard to picture a teardrop heaving to the ground. perhaps use the ear cascades down her face onto to the ground or trickles not sure...
Anyhow ver well written and i"m sure I will return for more.

I read through the first chapter. I must say I couldn't find single thing wrong. The dialogue is simple yet captivating. A look at humans from an alien's point of view. How enetertaining. I've given this high stars and hope to get back and read more.Well done.

I've read through to chapter 3. It only gets better with each chapter. The writing is concise, clear and easy to follow. The dialogue works beautifully. I like the back story about their abusive father. My only qualm, litlle in my eyes, I would have liked to know how their parents met and why the mother is attracted to losers, as her children point out.
Perhaps i need to read on and find out.

As always, this is a rivotting opening. I can smell the stench of the allies, waterfront and streets. Malcom grabbing him just in time.
Some of the dialog is unfamilliar to me, yet it did not distract me from reading on. You are indeeda great story teller! Well done!

This is truly well thought out and written book. My brother lives in the Yukon and has told me stories about the gold rush. I could relate to the book with colorful pictures in my mind. Well done. I have given it well deserved rating.

HI Catherine: I must say you have painted your childhood very well. The woman you call mother was somewhat of a monster to both you kids and her husband. My only qualm, little as it may seem, you jump ages and you go back again which can get a little confusing. I feel your pain and agony. Well done. plan on reading more.

I can see why so many people are drawn to this book: it's beautifully written. I have only got to Ch2 but I know I will need to read on. MY only qualm so far and it's very slight In Ch 2 you refer to Bill sitting on a setee. With Bill being in America I believe the word sofa or couch would be more appropriate. . Will be back for more.

I read the first two chapters. You set the book up perfectly with her uncontollable tantrum right away. The scenes were well played and the dialogue was bang on. I say this with conviction as I've witnessed this behavior with my son's bi-polar mate and her disfunctional family. One small word can trigger an outburst.
Well done!!! Highly starred and will definately come back to read more!

Cher Jerome: If only I could write french as well as yo have written in English. Being your second language you have mastered it well. I have noticed in a few spots your writing in english but your translanting through french. ie She smiled politely back perhaps say a polite gesture, she smiled back at me.
Also a "black tie" refers to a tuxedo white and black tie is not necessary. Your details are very precise .
Best of luck

I read the first chapter and i think this book had great possibilities. I was a little confused to start but after reading it the second time i got it. Here are a few suggestions that you may/may not consider.
Second paragraph First sentence Start with Number twelve. When I first read it, i read it as 12 circles. I push her away but ..here I would suggest she squeezes me into her, hugs sounds friendly.
I circle both my hands... here perhaps I free my hands from her tangled hair wrapping them tightly around her neck. I hate to do....it's time. I call upon my powers.Twelve continues....my ribs. I groan in protest. The way the sentence reads it sounds like your ribs are groaning.
I hope this helps

Ok I've only read the first three chapters and already I see this on the big screen! What an absolutely refreshing story. I couldn't find a single fault. Don't get me wrong, but you read so much about God, religion it's great to see the other side of the coin. I've given this high stars and WL for further reading. Brilliant!

You really know how to build suspense! I read the first chapter. I felt Micah's insecurity , the constant hand holding and never leaving his sister's side. You bring out Mairelle's anger, her empty heart and sorrow very well. I would have liked to have known what happened to her parents but I assume this will come out in later chapters. My only nit pick (small) I don't know how old the 2 siblings are.
I believe this book has great potential and I can see many readers taking interest. HIghly starred.
