about me

After pretty much abandoning authonomy for almost a year, I have returned!

Though studying Forensic Biology, having moved from Dublin to Edinburgh to do so, my one true passion is reading and writing. 'Thicker than Water', my current project, is the third novel I have completed. I don't like to think about the other two. It's all a learning process, or so I'm told =P

'Thicker than Water' is the first in a multi-part series, the second of which 'The Devil's Only Friend' is currently underway. This epic fantasy series is along the style of Robert Jordan or Brent Weeks.

A Brandon Sanderson writing group quote to finish with:
"Good plot is about crap happening."

Thicker than Water

Selena Hallahan

Power is given to those who strive for it. But what of those who are given it, unasked for?

Hell is stirring and seeks followers.

For Warwick Wolfe, her power is a curse. Magic in the hands of a woman leaves that woman alienated, outcast. She struggles vainly to return to normality, but there are those who have other ideas for her.

Cole Trapper is an assassin. The power he holds as a magician has not changed that and being drafted into a war between Heaven and Hell certainly won’t, either.

Lives twisted by power, they are thrown together with one who has struggled for the power to change their country. Plagued by Heaven, and hunted by Hell, they must discover a way to restore balance.

A horrifying and captivating tale of abuse and pain. A very good story that should get out there to assuage some of your pain. The writing itself could do with a little editing - be careful with some of the descriptive words (in the first paragraph - 'vile info' and 'rumbling tummy' seem at odds ... view book

Wow, definitely a ‘racy’ first chapter! I think it’s probably more horrific than anything – and purely in the sense that she is forced to enjoy the rape. Really, horrible stuff. It’s an interesting first chapter, and I can sense that there will be a lot of action and intrigue in the rest of it, ... view book

Really very beautifully written, this is a wonderful children's story - I just couldn't stop myself from reading on and on! Very moreish, and lovely short chapters are ideal for those just beginning to nurture a love of the written word. The plot is fantastic, with all the elements needed for suc... view book

A great read, quite unlike anything I have seen before - I thought it would be Bronte-sisters-esque until the first mention - in perfect seriousness - of magic, whereupon I was instantly intrigued and had to read on! Vermillion is a great protagonist: the sensible and strong-willed heroine, perfect ... view book

Beautifully written - even in the present tense, which I am not usually a fan of. In fact, in a story with such gorgeous, fairy-tale imagery - like those radiant beings sitting on toad stools - the present tense works perfectly. From the beginning there are questions to make us read on - what is the... view book
