about me

My only book so far is "A Sting in the Tail"

however book number 2 is in the draft stages.

I have just recently published my work to amazon:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007NZG7ES

I spent my childhood moving from country to country starting in Sudan, where I was born. My childhood included stints in Kenya, Bahrain, Kuwait, UK, Australia and finally the Fiji Islands before returning to the UK as an 18 year old. I spent the next couple of years in a Merchant Navy college in Fleetwood, Lancashire before heading south to university in London. I graduated in Electronic Engineering, despite spending most of my time in the university bar.

I joined the British Army after graduating and spent 3 years playing hockey and cricket until someone realised that my camouflage uniform had not been taken out of its wrapper. My final year in the army was spent with a six month tour of South Armagh in Northern Ireland, Operation Snow Queen in Norway and various exercises in Germany.

After leaving the Army I went back to University to study a post graduate degree in Computing & Artificial Intelligence. My complete 180 turn around of my life found me working in the city of London for a few years doing the rounds of the big merchant banks, Coutts, NatWest, UBS, Barings to name a few but the long hours and miserable English weather took its toll we packed up and emigrated to Perth in Western Australia, where I live with my wife and two budding cricket stars of the future.

I currently commute from Perth, on a monthly basis, to my current job in Algeria where I work for a global oil company.

A Sting in the Tail

Andy Macready

A thriller set against the back drop of terrorism in the Oil and Gas fields of Algeria and a looming environmental disaster.

Paul Banner, an ex Legionnaire working for an elite unit of MI6, is sent on his most dangerous mission yet, to work undercover for an oil company based in the oil town of Hassi Medila in central Algeria.

Al Qaeda in North Africa has had their ranks swelled by returning Islamic fighters from wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. With newly found skills and a hunger for martyrdom in their own homeland they set out to shoot down a foreign commercial airliner transporting oil workers into the country.

Shortly after arriving in Algeria, Banner is joined by a young inexperienced but highly intelligent computer security specialist. The story follows the agents as they track the terrorist cell transporting the missiles across lawless Mauritania, into Mali and up into Southern Algeria.

Blair Dyer, CEO of BOGEL Oil & Gas Corporation is a world leader in green technology that stores millions of tonnes of CO2 underground. Gas is extracted from the underneath the scorched Saharan desert and separated from the CO2 and pumped back into the earth where it is stored in underground natural reservoirs, substantially reducing carbon emissions, but the technology is flawed and causing villages to fall ill.
