about me

Former Royal Hong Kong Police Force Officer. Current job equally interesting.

Hing Dai is a completed HF trilogy that is undergoing a final edit and I also have an airport type thriller.

Will return serious reads but am looking less for typos than answers to four questions (i) What is keeping you reading, (ii) What theme is hitting you as you read, (iii) which of the characters are and are not working for you and (iv) dialogue does it work.

Hing Dai - Brothers

Steve Hawgood

It need never have happened.

In 1937 the Imperial Forces of Japan stand poised to dominate China. When a young Chinese mother narrowly escapes the rape of Nanjing and gives birth, she seeks only safety for her new family, never imagining how both events will impact on her life. Then as China escapes the maelstrom of war, a new leader emerges to finally bring the country together changing her family forever.

Thousands of miles away a young man responds to his country's call to arms. For most people war is simply a constant struggle to survive as they make decisions, right or wrong, capitalism or communism. The decisions he makes will test his moral fibre to the very limit, changing his government and influencing the course of history.

Hing Dai is a completed Trilogy.

Janet/Helen - the return read. I've no literary training nor ever published so feel free to deal with these comments as you wish. The synopsis is intriguing, the lost days reminding me of Agatha Christie's dissapearance. Then with the assistance of a psychologist aiding memory return you hint of ... view book

Falcon - the return read. I've no literary training nor ever published so feel free to deal with these comments as you wish. I do enjoy thrillers, less so fantasy. As I read I found that the prologue is more fantasy than thriller and the more I read the more comfortable I felt with this as YA... view book

Charlotte - the promised read. I've no literary training nor ever published so feel free to deal with these comments as you wish. I will add fantasy is not my usual read so will adjust my comments accordingly. The short opening on Chapter 1 is intriguing. I'd keep this very short. I would rem... view book

Tim the read I promised. I've no literary training nor ever published so feel free to deal with these comments as you wish. The genres you include this in are my usual reads and certainly the subject matter of interest to me. Chapter 1 - from the start it's very clear you can write. You've ind... view book

Valerie - the promised read. As before I've no literary training nor ever published so feel free to deal with these comments as you wish. The genre are my usual reads but would add I feel comedy is the toughest genre of all to write. I'm not usually a lover of quotations at the start of the book,... view book
