about me

I'm a SAHM of five beautiful children. My family are my passion and they all agree that I spend way too much time reading and writing. When I'm not busy at home, I love to spend time in the great outdoors with my family, hiking and camping.

A number of years back I took a creative writing class with the intent of writing picture books, not thinking I'd EVER be able to write a novel. During one of my classes, I completed a writing exercise, the story of which continued to nag at me for years. "Surviving Sunset" was born from that exercise.

For those interested, I would love to participate in some reading swaps. Just leave me a message!

Surviving Sunset

Lynn Briggs

Sacrifice begins at sunset whether or not you're willing.

Sunset is a dangerous time – a time when the gods of the Mayan world awake and exact payment for the gifts they have bestowed upon man. Unfortunately for Jennifer Taylor, 17, the price is life and she is the next offering.

Pulled from her perfect life in California during her senior year, Jennifer is forced to move to small town, Golden, Colorado. Shunning Golden and its residents, she becomes fascinated with a mysterious force that resides within her home – that is, until it turns angry and she realizes that what she thought to be the only beautiful thing in her life desires her death.

Desperate to escape the fear encompassing her, Jennifer reluctantly turns to persistent Christian and his fun-loving friends for help unfolding the mystery surrounding the house and its previous occupant, Sarah, who was killed sixty-five years prior and is now asking for Jennifer’s help. When Jennifer discovers that it was Sarah’s love of the ancient world that eventually led to Sarah’s demise, she must find the source of the gods’ power hidden within her home and destroy it before it destroys her and those she has grown to love.

YARG and return read Hi Andrew, I swear I've read and commented on this before. Did you have it on here, take it off and then put it back on again? Okay, so I think my favorite thing about your writing thus far are your descriptions. You've got some beautiful imagery going on - fingers of... view book

Hi Birgit, I've read through the first five chapters of "The Virgin Ghost" and I like what I've read. You write well. You've got some great imagery. Everything is beautiful shown instead of told. The mystery is also well set up. You given us just enough information to move the story al... view book

YARG review and Return read Hi Seven, I've done something a little different with this review. I took detailed notes on the first four chapters and then set my pen down and decided to make more general notes on the plot for the remainder of the book. I'm going to do my general notes first an... view book

Return Read Sam, This is awesome. I wish I had to time sit and read a bit more. You've got a light, witty writing style that draws the reader in and makes him/her smile, while, at the same time, conveying tension when you need it too. Oh, and I love Dax. Your ability to capture the set... view book

Hi T.J., You've got a good, strong writing style that demands attention. It's perfect for this kind of crime novel. The opening chapter was particularly strong. I found no fault with it whatsoever. Well done. The second chapter is where is started to shake a little for me, though. I agree... view book
