Ami's dad is dead. The thing is, she not only has to struggle to adjust to life without him, she's also made homeless by her aunt and rejected by her brother.
But her whole life changes when Paul, her father's friend, invites her to stay with him and his two lodgers.
As Ami struggles to come to terms with the pain inside, a new path is laid before her. Of course, it doesn't help that weird things happen in Paul's house. For years, Paul, a Professor of Philosophy, has been inventing things - things that are of no use to anyone - that is, not until Ami comes along.
