about me

I have been writing since 1992 and have been published in various venues: online, magazines, and short story books.I wrote my memoir God's Gracious Gift as a healing mechanism for my own self. I soon discovered by having others read it, that it could be used as healing and strength for those that might be suffering as I did for so many years. The experience taught me well that God has a specific purpose and plan for each of his children. It is only through his guidance that we find how fulfilling and strengthening even the bad things in our lives can be.

My second book, entitled The Curse was written at first in 1992 after my brain surgery (for real) and I had to write a novel for a writing class. It has evolved over the years but never was really marketed much because frankly publishers are interested in a 600 page book by a major unknown recuperating from brain surgery :)

I wrote The Curse because of the many stories my mom told me about my grandmother coming to America in 1913 as a very young girl. It has evolved from there with fictional characters that drew from my own life. After picking it up again after 10 years, I thought it might be worthwhile getting some feedback on it.

I am excited to be meeting so many nice people on Authonomy. Some of you I keep in contact with on a regular basis and really appreciate your friendship. I am finding that God continues to bless daily in my life. Even though there are many struggles we each encounter we must continue to look to Him for guidance. It is often to easy to cry about our woes instead of give thanks for our blessings. Satan is great black spider who weaves a web of uncertainty and doubt that can often surround our hearts and make it sticky and uncomfortable to break free. Don't let him defeat you.

So my friends on Authonomy I send you greetings of the most loving kind and pray for each of you that you may find God's fulfillment in your life and His forgiveness and love in your hearts.

Thanks to everyone and especially Joe, Frannie and Bart for their encouragement and love. You are a gift from God.

I read a great many memoirs, two of which stick in my mind: Julie Andrews - Home and The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls.

God's Gracious Gift - Why Coin....

Joy Eastman

People often believe life is a book filled with luck or coincidence. Now discover how each chapter is written by the hand of God.

God’s Gracious Gift begins in 1971 and tells the story of Stacey who after the birth of her second child is stricken with an illness whose diagnosis and prognosis are mystifying. She spends three months in the hospital suffering through multiple surgeries, treatment from an unscrupulous surgeon, and a nearly loses her life. The poverty of her childhood gives her a strong faith that enables her to endure the terrible trial. Through the power of prayer her life is spared. Her illness takes a toll on her marriage and eventually her husband leaves her. A lawsuit reveals that she was the very first surgery done by her surgeon. Even though he has been sued by many others, the jury finds him not guilty. Stacey begins to build a new life when she suddenly discovers the mysterious illness is back, and she has been walking around with a time bomb in her head for twenty years. Her strong faith in God leads her to a neurosurgeon who correctly diagnoses her illness as an AVM or Arteriovenous Malformation, a condition only seen in one out of 300 cases and would have been considered inoperable in 1971.

The Curse - Can a Virtuous Wom....

Joy Eastman

Can a deathbed curse linger from generation to generation. If so, can it ever be stopped?

What does it mean when a family is torn asunder by lies and injustice? One woman breaks a deathbed promise to her father and a curse is uttered. Kaja's life is shattered in a million pieces and she and the generations that follow are left without a glimmer of hope.

The Curse follows her life and that of her daughter Marty and her daughters, Stacy and Katherine. The story is based on my own grandmother's journey to America and one that my mother often shared with me. Many of the events in the book are based on real life happenings.

Stacey, the book's main character, has convinced herself that she must put an end to this terrible curse before it also destroys her own daughter's happiness. As her sanity crumbles after the untimely death of her sister, Stacey seeks the help of renowned psychiatrist, Gregg Phillips.

Together they journey back in time using a unique method of hypnosis. Stacey discovers the secret of the mysterious curse lies only in the mind of its victims.

You have an interesting story to tell but it reads like a news article or documentary. If you could personalize the events and tell it from a first person perspective it would be much easier to follow along with pulling in more emotion. Don't give up. Keep working this and it will become a fascinat... view book

This is my CLF review. Hi Bart I have read the requested chapters and was very impressed with this one. The book itself seemed to address the very issues so many Christians wonder about the end times. Will Christ return before the tribulation even begins or in the middle of the tribulation or at... view book

Wow Catherine how sad to think this story is true it is so unbelievable. Just to write about such a tragedy must have been horrible for you so many children that are abused this way. True life is often stranger than fiction and much more depressing. I will keep reading to see the outcome. Good luck... view book
