After twenty years of Sydonian captivity, an underground resistance led by three legendary wizards endeavors to overthrow their captors and free Damascas.
It's been 20 years since the land of Damascas has been overthrown by their enemies from the north, the Sydonians. Many Damascans were exiled, taken to Sydon to serve as slaves or left in Damascas under captivity to harvest crops for the Sydon King Salazar and his people.
Such is the climate that young Petra Warfield has been born into. A Damascan by birth who lives with his uncle and works as a sawyer, he scoffs at the few Damascans who still devote themselves to their god Barah and hopes to find freedom on his own.
But fortunes change when Petra, his best friend Grendel, and their new acquaintance Amethyst come across three aged wizards in a tavern who have defended Damascas since ages past.
Meanwhile, a hooded figure wanders across Damascas. Some regard him as a harmless drunk, but the three wizards believe him to be the cowardly Ryle, former king of Damascas, who fled and left his people to the tyranny of King Salazar. The mysterious figure could hold the key to the Damascans' freedom, but who exactly is he, and can he be trusted?
