about me

Justis Call was born somewhere along the California coastline, and has gravitated toward coastlines his entire adult life. He grew up in the wild, wild west, thinking he was a cowboy and was, indeed, a natural horseman. After his cowboy youth, Justis began his coast-jumping life in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After two years on the South American Atlantic coast, speaking very little English, he traveled to the distant land of the Pacific Northwest, living and working next to the gorgeous Pacific Ocean. Onward and forward, not one to remain tied to any one part of the world or ocean, Justis fairly skipped even further north to Alaska (where all fairies are from, you know) to experience the ocean as it is blown in by the fierce winds from Japan. Later, Justis was to spend several years on the northern east coast, gaining a new familiarity with the crashing Atlantic Ocean waves. He is now older and more settled somewhere near the west coast, living and loving the Pacific Ocean and all the magical creatures he encounters. His love of writing was nurtured after winning a 5th grade writing contest in which he wrote an essay about his non-traditional mother. From there, he slowly found his niche in the fantasy world, being able to believe and become, while still living in this world, working and writing a weekly newspaper column in a small island town off the coast of some distant place in the north.

Sarah ~ Intricate, striking, complex. Faded, they call her. Fleeting, ephemeral. You might miss her, were it not for the incredible powers she asserts.

The ultimate drama of Good versus Evil ~ some call it a fine line.
Sarah calls it her life.

FROM THE WRITINGS OF SARAH:
I was told that I should write this. When I inquired as to why, they said it would help people to get into my mind, to understand why I do what I do. The whole point of what I do is that nobody can get into my mind. Nobody can understand why I do what I do. That is a part of my power. Wizards, assassins, even Powers have fallen before me, because they could not understand what I was doing. I was told to write something anyway, even if my mind remained closed.

Spike and Squeak...what a great duo for children to learn from! I picked out a couple of stories and was immediately taken with pictures of these furry critters on their adventurous journeys! Nice work, Brian. Definitely a winner, and ready for my shelf! Justis Call Snow Bound view book

This book is surprisingly innovative, flows from one area of time to the next, and is exceptionally well-written. Not typically my genre, I am finding myself wanting to read more. An excellent book, deserving of the highest star-rating! Best, Justis Call Snow Bound view book

Wow, what an incredible and exceptionally well-written story. I have only touched the surface of your book, yet have found it intriguing, compelling, fascinating. Many in today's world would do well to learn from your story, your son's life, and your family's triumphs. Thank you for sharing, J... view book
