about me

My current project is a novel from after the Zombie Apocalypse - The Emissary. It's part 'Walking Dead' part 'Xinia' with a couple of westerns thrown in for a good measure.

Author of "Let's Do Lunch" which spent 10 days in the Top 25 on Amazon UK Best Selling Romantic Suspense Novel in December of 2011.

Currently promoting her second novel "Swallow the Moon" which hit #17 on Amazon's Best Selling Free Romantic Suspense list on May 2nd, 2012 and was still in the Top 30 on May 21st 2012.

"Swallow the Moon" has been featured on the Awesome Indies website - here: http://awesomeindies.wordpress.com/romance/paranormal-romance/

K. A. (Kat) Jordan lives on a small farm in Kentucky called Jordan's Croft where she writes and blogs about farm life and writing. She holds a degree in Applied Science, writes Contemporary & Paranormal Romance (sans Vampires) and can often be found on the back of her husband's Suzuki M109 motorcycle.

The rest is subject to change without notice.

My e-books are on sale at Amazon UK - the two novels are also available in paperback from Create Space in the UK and Europe.

I LOVE how Amazon has broadened my horizon's - when I first came to Autho there wasn't any way to hit these markets. I love being a writer!

favourite books

'Angel's Fall' by Nora Roberts,
'Crocodile on the Sandbank' by Elizabeth Peters
'Writing the Breakout Novel' by Donald Maas

My favorite writers are Joe Konrath, Dean Weslely Smith, Kristine Rusch, Laura Resnik and the bloggers who have shared their knowledge. I would not have published my own work except for their encouragement to all writers.

The Emissary - Part 1

It's three years since The End of the World. The McLeod and Davidson's clans survive while the walking dead infest the cities and towns.

It's just three years since The End of the World. The McLeod and Davidson's clans survive in a world where the muerto viviente - walking dead - infest the cities and towns.

The McLeod clan know how to use medicinal herbs. They offer to share the precious knowledge with the Davidson clan. Alexis McLeod is a trained herbalist, she volunteers to travel to Fort Chatten, the home of the Davidson clan. Her three younger sisters will go with her on the 110 mile journey.

Armed to the teeth, the sisters are horse archers, light cavalry, quick enough to avoid the muerto. Militia, marauders and mad-men abound, the stinking dead walk the land eating everything in their path.

I read 2 chapters. I like A.J. - she's a well developed character. I like that she's sensible. The concert scene was good, I could relate to the noise. There are some POV issues, and some awkward sentences. There are a few places where the tense changes from past to present and back. The... view book

The prologue is in 3rd person, but chapter 1 is in 1st person. This MC appears to be a volital personality, very high strung and not particularly aware of their surroundings. I'm not a fan of 1st person, because unlike 3rd, it doesn't allow the author to describe a scene. The character has to do... view book

What I liked - you paint scenes very well. There is a good sense of time and place with 1 exception which is the start of chapter 3. I'm VERY glad to see you wrote this is in 3rd person. Too many books on Authonomy are in 1st and the characters run off on tangents. You handle 3rd person very well... view book

This is very interesting. I came for one chapter and continued to read. I'll keep reading and make some notes on the most interesting scenes. So far, it has my full attention, and that doesn't happen very often. I'll be back. view book

Chapter one doesn't flow - you should remove at least 10% to 20% to get it moving better. Some places you could cut more than 50%. This is an example: Clinton didn't answer right away. That's the million dollar question, he thought. The assholes as Langley always changed horses in mid-stream.... view book
