about me

' Sanseng' was born in 1975 and was brought up on the Wirral, (which is much healthier than meph-amphetamine) where he remained until he was eighteen. A happy childhood; making daisy chains, holidays in the sun, a few minor brushes with the law and an obsessive interest in all things fantasy. No brace, few spots and only one broken bone and one broken heart (not his). It all went swimmingly.

A three-year degree course, occasionally studying American Studies at the University of Reading coupled with a semester at the University of Texas, at Austin paved the way for a year in Korea, teaching scouse to unsuspecting locals. Although it was nothing to do with him; the Korean economy collapsed in the summer of 1998 and with his school now bankrupt, he returned to England and ended up on the launch team of Amazon.co.uk....

And for the last ten years has been figuring a way of getting out of the Internet industry.....

Being Dad

Sanseng

What does it mean to be a dad at the turn of the 21st Century? Is it just about providing sperm? Fatherhood just got complicated...

Being Dad is a humorous exploration into fatherhood from the perspective of a contemporary western man.

Matt, finds out he is going to become a father for the first time with his partner, Sarah. He has many doubts about his ability and suitability as a father. Matt has also got to handle a number of family issues that arise at the time of Sarah’s pregnancy. Namely that his parents are now getting a divorce and the man Matt has called Dad all of his life is not, in fact, his biological father. Matt’s brother Mark is in a long-term gay relationship and the couple have applied to become adoptive parents and are eventually successful…

Coming to terms with his own news as well as trying to grasp the ever-altering world around him, Matt’s journey into fatherhood is one peppered with challenges and make Matt question his very identity and worth as a human being. Is he really fit and capable of bringing a new life into the world? Does he even want to?

Pacy, fast-moving plot coupled with funny well-observed dialogue. I like that there’s almost screenplay economy to your writing that makes it exciting to read and very easy to empathise with the characters. I think you’ve got the start of something here – would be keen to read the whole thing,... view book
