Wow - the opening pages had me hooked in seconds. It's rare that I find another sci fi writer with a similar viewpoint as mine (or so it would appear) and it's such a relief! I've finished chap 1 and can't wait to read the rest. The title caught my eye because my second novel in my Fleet quintet covers something similar. Only quibble so far is that I don't like the female character (tad stereotypical) but otherwise, this is going on my bookshelf. Perhaps you'd like to check out my novel, Commences.SJB view book

This isn't the sort of thing I like, usually....comedy-fantasy....urgh. The cover didn't grab and neither did the pitch. But I persevered and read the first paragraph anyway and I was HOOKED. I love this! The first chapter reads like a dream and I just can't wait to read more. So far, this is the best piece of writing I've come across on Authonomy recently - really well-written. Great pitch, the story sounds really interesting but a spelling mistake in the first line was a tad off-putting ("overcastted") I see it's a while since you posted this - did you ever finish? It needs a lot of work but I think it'll be worth it.SJB view book
This is not my usual genre though I'm quite happy to read the occasional romance...if only they were less predictable, though. Why are the heroines always so arch and the heroes so obviously intimidating? That said and done, I was willing to go with the flow but eventually had to stop reading in despair. The writing needs a lot of polish and some serious editing. Has the author tried Mills & Boon? I'm sure she would find success there and a lot of help to get her work realised. I'm sorry to sound so harsh, but I was keenly disappointed as this is at Number 1 and it's not as good as it thinks it is.SJB view book
Hello again. I'm really enjoying this and was rather looking forward to coming back to read a few more chapters today! As soon as I'm done, I'll get my daughter to read it too: she's eleven and a half and very advanced in reading years, so reads a lot of YA fiction. I just have to check that it's "clean"! One very small technical point in Chapter Seven: her stepsister would actually be her half-sister, as they share the same father. Can't wait to finish the rest!SJB view book
