about me

My names Ayana, I'm 19 years old and in my first year of University. I love writing, reading and anything else to do with the two. If I'm not doing one, I'm pretty much doing the other.

I've loved reading since I was old enough to hold a book and actually understand what it said. I've been hooked ever since.

I've been writing since I was about twelve though it wasn't really seriously until I was seventeen. I haven't finished my first book yet but I hope it'll be soon.

On the rare occasions that I'm not reading or writing, I'm watching films, going out, laughing and joking with my friends and my family or thinking about a new book, a new piece or how to improve an old one. I'm ironic, sarcastic, a bit odd at times but being normal is overrated. I'm also from a pretty small family and they're really supportive.

So far I've got 2 books uploaded - Bright Eyes and Violet's Kiss. I hope you like what I write.

If anyone wants to email me you can at ayana_raine@hotmail.com

Finally my swap policy. I don't mind doing swap reads but please don't ask unless you've either already read and commented on my work or are willing to go first. I just simply don't have the energy to spend time commenting on peoples work because they've asked for a swap, only to have them not return the favour when it was their idea.

favourite books

I know it says books but I'll mention authors and series instead:

Laurell.K.Hamilton - Anita Blake/Merry Gentry Series
Kelley Armstrong - Otherworld/Nadia Stafford/Darkest Powers Series
James Patterson - Most
Stephenie Meyer - Twilight Series and The Host
Eoin Colfer - Artemis Fowl Series
J.K. Rowling - Harry Potter Series
Louise Rennison - All
Meg Cabot - All
Christine Feehan - Carpathian Series
Sherillyn Kenyon - All
Neil Gaiman - Most
Phillip Pullman - His Dark Materials Series
Lilith Saintcrow - Dante Valentine Series
Cassandra Clare - The Mortal Instruments Series

I've missed out loads but as you can see I'm pretty into contemporary fantasy. But I've missed out three absolute favourite which are a bit different.

How I live now by Meg Rosoff
Just Listen by Sarah Dessen
War for the Oaks by Emma Bull

Three words - Absolutely incredibly inspiring.

my books

Bright Eyes

Ayana Raine

This time, it's different. I'm not a scared little girl anymore. And he's bitten off more than he can chew.

My name is Savannah Ashton and I've never been normal. Not since I was nine years old and bitten by a wolf anyway. I thought I was the only other one of my kind for eight years. Well, guess again.

Moving to London changed everything. Meeting Cassius and Lucas on that first day sealed my fate forever. And the unexplainable pull I’m feeling towards Cassius? It’s only complicating everything more.

But finally I thought I’d found a real home again and friends. That is until someone from my past decides to pay me a visit. And he's not content on taking just a bite now. This time though, I'm not a scared little girl anymore. And he's bitten off more then he can chew.

***Note***: I'm taking a slight break from Authonomy while I try to edit Bright Eyes. I know a few of you are really looking forward to the rest so I'll try and hurry. I'm going to be uploading fairly soon, I just need to make sure everything makes sense first :) Thanks for all the support, you guys are amazing!

Violet's Kiss

Ayana

An ex-fey warrior, a master vampire and the Fey Queen. Violet’s life, even as a half-witch, just isn’t meant to be easy.

I’ve had enough trouble in my life since I became infamous for being the only witch in existence without a coven. But when Kaiden, one of my only friends and an ex-fey warrior, asks for my help in freeing his sister from the Fey Queen, how can I possibly refuse? Especially when a certain Master Vampire, who wants me as his ally – read own personal witch – offers his services in help to convince me to side with him. Trouble? I don’t even know the meaning of the word. Not yet anyway.

Your pitch drew me in and I'm glad it did. This is good for the YA audience now and while it's a popular idea right now, it's also different. Your writing is enjoyable and I like Jena's voice in the story. One thing I noticed during reading is that you use a capital letter in 'honey' when her mum is... view book

Great pitch. Interesting concept and I'm envious of the exciting life you've lived. Backed. Ayana view book

This was instantly enjoyable. I liked the way you described the ghetto in the beginning as 'lying dormant since birth like a virus or parasite' and the 'ghetto repellent' made me smile. I especially like the way you give the surname ghetto to all of Mya's boyfriends. The 'extra bonus of baby ghettos... view book

Not sure what you mean by the opening being flat. The situation isn't meant to be awkward for her in the first place but tiresome and tedious; something to show the reader that it's not the first time she's been in the situation and it probably won't be the last. It's suppose to seem unclear ... view book

Hey D. I wasn't planning on taking a look but your message said to look at the first line and I couldn't help myself. I'm glad I checked it out. It's fantastic. The humour jumps right off the page and you can't help but carry on reading. The profanity seems to fit right in and the scene with the pro... view book
