about me

Hello everybody! I'm Shieldmaiden. I love many different genres, ranging from comic books to classic literature. I'm a big fan of Lord of the Rings. I just finished reading Neal Shusterman's Skinjacker Trilogy. It was awesome, I'd definitely suggest it to anyone.
I've been writing for about twelve years now, since I was a kid. Trying my hand at different styles has certainly taught me a lot. My greatest labor of love is my Alexis Trilogy, which I'm endeavoring to finish by 2017. (Which will have made it 11 years in the working). I like to work more than one project at a time, to keep flexible, and I'm trying my hand at something new--romantic comedy. Would love to hear what you think of my writing, and to hear about yours!

A Trail of 'M and M's'

Jazmine Isles

It takes a candid conversation with a friendly stranger to make Mari realize she wants something more in her life. She's had enough.

More and more Mari is seeing how much her life feels like a limbo of mistakes and disappointment. Sure, her website is doing reasonably well, (as a hawker) one of her best friends has found the love of her life, and she has been on her own (without sinking in serious debt) for a few years now. But in all the rush-rush and near failure of her attendance to Beck's wedding, Mari realizes she needs something more. This can't be all there is.
Perhaps the challenge a stranger gave her is the lifeline she needs.
She needs to go out on a limb, and see in what direction life spins her.
...Now she just needs to find the courage.
One step out her door--perhaps she'll find out what the world is really about. What life is about. Maybe it's a journey of mistakes and miracles.

Alexis: Tears of Blood

Elora Carmen Shore

Many terrors have already been faced...but Alexis will find that her heart has not yet known the deepest pain.

With the battle of Ethen'dor won, Alexis and Resen have found the next path that they must take. Corruption and uncertainty have claimed kingdoms to the south, and the kingdoms to the east suffer. But the enemy has something to unleash that no one would have seen, something that will strike at the heart of the cause, into the Chosen herself.
New figures will arise, new swords unsheathed, and veils will be dropped....

The Chosen is going to know the meaning of heartache and darkness, and the whole land of Aunniguld is going to be aflood with bloodshed once again.

To be perfectly honest, I didn't enjoy this very much. The writing is a bit slap dash in my opinion. I think the only thing I liked was that the characters were named Eros and Dante. Sorry. view book

Your voice and style is very strong. You obviously have talent. From the very beginning I was just immersed, believing in the characters and their reality. This was exceedingly well crafted. (Sorry it took me so long to get back to you!) view book

Intriguing...I think the setting is well set out. I'm more curious about the character, but a pretty good first chapter. Good luck! view book

I read the first three chapters, and I enjoyed it very much. There's a lot of originality and character in your writing, and it was a nice, fresh piece. Certain something one can equate to, in terms of familial disorder and comical situations. Was a nice laugh. The best of luck to you! Keep work... view book

This is very exciting and intriguing! The reader can sense how much preparation and dedication you have put into making its culture and peoples a reality. I was very interested, and I can't wait to read more. I especially liked the last couple chapters. Very exciting! I don't really have anythin... view book
