Dan,I'm looking forward to "Songs" I don't read as much quality literary fiction as I should. Your mini-synop has me eager to start Sandrine's story. On my list. Thanks for your interest, and your shelf-space.Best, Greg / NS view book
Hey Jeff,Started Draegnstoen, gotta say the first chapter has a lot of balls. Big ones. ;-)Like the concepts: Stonhenge as protective stand for dragon hunters. T-rex as dragons. Pretty slick. Characters are economically, but well drawn. Prologue was good, did exactly what it needed to.You've got my interest here, and a spot on my shelf. Don't get caught in a "Tempest." ;-) view book
Hey Jeff,Felt bad about you hangin, wondering what happened to Satana. So I put Chap 15 up just for you. Sorry about the past to present tense switch. It does need to be edited. Eventually it will all be past-t.Best, NS view book
Hey Jeff,Due to your entusiastic response, I'll do my best to put up a few more chapters tomorrow. Yes, the book is complete, so no worries there. Thanks, bro. view book
Hi Jack,Glad you're enjoying Widowmaker. Thanks for the shelf space.Yeah, Nadine's weapon will be explained, although there are a few clues throughout the book. Part of the solution to the mystery. "Underdogs" is now on my watchlist. I really dig your avatar. Magnificent dog. Is it yours? EDIT: Ha! My mistake. It's a WOLF! Gettin punchy from too much reading. Later, NS view book
Dave,Whoa! forgive the multiple posts. I kept getting an error message, kept re-sending. Sorry, man. NS view book
Hey Dave,Thanks for the supportive comment on the party thread last night. I appreciate it. Your book (I've only read the first chap, will be going back to it soon) has an excellent shot. The market for slam-bang thrillers is quite a bit wider than the one for the type of noir / suspense / mystery stuff I write. You've obviously got a good one, I think it could make it. SHOULD make it!Of course, everything I've been reading (Publishers Weekly, Publishers Marketplace) indicates that due to the sorry state of the economy, things aren't good in publishing right now. And, that we've yet to see the worst.Still, we're writers. We do what we do. Keep writing. Keep fighting. Keep bucking the odds. Even if the odds suck.Best, NS view book
AE,Thanks for your support. I've had ILYYL on my watchlist, and will be getting to it soon. I put it on there because of the intriguing title, and your excellent pitch. Very well done. Hooked me!Yeah, prologue thread. Thanks for bringing that up. The piece I put up there actually is from another novel of mine, Freeway Pigeons. Hope that wasn't confusing. I've gone back to the thread, entered a clarification. Again, ILYYL, GREAT title!Best, NS view book
Dave,As promised, I put up a thread (Noirscribe . . . paging . . . dking97) on the Writing board to reply to your comments. Best, NS view book
Dave,Thanks for reading, and the astute comments. You made some good points. I'm gonna write you an answer with some detail. Don't want to clutter up your comments page so I'll page you on a thread when I'm done. Was always curious about Archer, it's been on my list for days. view book
Jeff, excellent point on the Maglite. Actually, My vision was of Nadine holding the MagL (off not on) reversed, in a two-handed shooting stance. All Cuey would be seeing, from a distance, was a black matte metal object, would believe it to be a gun. A stretch? You bet. Didn't work, Chuey picked up on it, called Nadine's bluff. In retrospect, I can see I need to make it a bit clearer. Thanks for pointing it out. view book
Hey, Jeff.Yeah, Nadine can handle herself. Handle anything else comes roaring down the pike too.Nadine says thanks.Me too. NS view book
Jeff, Thanks for the kind words. Your getting the "grittty, black & white, detective movie" feel, made me feel just great. I mean, I'm writing noir / pulp, so that's what I'm striving for. Draegnstoen sounds really intriguing, very different. "Historical fiction (with a touch of fantasy)" It's on my list, and I look forward to reading it.Best, NS view book
Howard, thanks for the encouraging comments. You're right, Widowmaker does stray a bit from classic noir. In my latest novel, "Open Wound" (which has hit the desks of a dozen major publishers [nothing happening yet]) I stay strictly within noir boundries. My preference, but, hard to sell. At least according to my agent."Hardon" Yeah, in the sense applied, USA vernacular for hatred, wishing to do harm to.A femme-fatale who's an ex-witch? All the hook I need. "B.B." is on my list. view book
Curmudgeon,Thanks for your ongoing support. You're on my list, bro. view book
