about me

Hi; My names Rhys - welsh for Ris - Gaelic for 'Heart of passion' so I'm told, or possibly Rice, depending on which translators you use...

i've already done university and that was a big boot of well needed inspiration. Currently i'm living in Australia (Brisbane) where I'm hoping to stay and start a life, but we'll see. I still want to do more travelling but whatever happens will be an adventure!

Writing wise I'm not published and unfrotunately never have been, but I do enjoy it as a hobby and being on places like this keeps me going. Currently I have an artistic source of inspiration whose climbing the arts ladder rung by rung and he's acting as a boost for me and my endeavours but we'll see how that goes!

Currently i should also point out i'm on a Teaching English as a Foreign Language course. Fingers crossed it'll improve my grammar!

If you want to chat - feel free of course, books phillosophy, reading writing, anything at all! : )

favourite books

I'm admittedly still not too well read, but I do love the humour of Terry Pratchet and Douglas Adams. My favourite Terry Pratchet book being 'Small Gods' as I think it's a pretty apt reflection of the real world :)

I also enjoy the Steam Punk theme and have read a few short stories based on victorianesque science fiction. I am keen to read the Leviathan Trilogy, a fantasy set in World War 2 - my kind of thing.

Currently I've been reading more self help books such as the power of now and books to improve my grammar, I'm going by the mantra that any book will broaden the mind!

Anyway, if you're keen to find a critique for your work I'll happily do my best - just bare with me as I'm currently in Australia and can't always reach the computer.

Conquering the Mont Blanc

Rhys Davies

the last gauntlet of a shaman to finishing his spiritual quest, the end of his journey but the start of his advnture.

Shamanic ritual always looked to nature for strength. In the days of our elders the shamans were wise man, the respected aged of the community who had a benevolent link able to translate the change of clouds in the stratosphere or the curl of snow on arctic winds. This power was never fully understood in those days of fledgling spirits. But since the time of the Inuit’s reading the tundra, the Egyptians translating the Nile and the Rapanui watching the ebb of the Pacific, many shamans had earned the respect of the land; though few were close to conquering every earthly element that roamed feral. Tomas Henry has always had a fixation on the Alps. Though hardly far from his home in Woking (United Kingdom), his love of them pushed him to visiting the area many times, trekking, climbing, rafting and skiing below striking spires of rock and ice, earthly daggers driving into the sky; bleeding from it glaciers and ice flows and swelling bruised blizzard clouds. This was the only place in the world that he felt alien, the only soil that electrified his body with a sense of adventure; and he was about to learn just why.

Army of forty - Daughter of th....

RL Davies

All blood lines of the muses meet together in one misfortunate young lady, destine to lo live the life of a modernised greek heroine.

The ability to move with frioctionless grace a beauty with any rythm would never be looked upon as a curse, nor would the ability to paint away ones emotion and vent modern angst and stresses through mediums of art, however these are symptoms of the soul. A soul of substance and depth nurtured within a body bound by genetics of the muse sisterhood, the women who inspired the ancient worlds poets, phillosophers and artists - and who apparently also 'tweeked' the world to hide the secrets of the past as legend and myth. Leanna Parish 'suffers' from these symptoms and thus stirs up some conrtoversy in the ancient worlds few surviving links; however these links aren't alone. And those that the Greek heroes were quested to defeat may just lay in slumber and as the universe begins to unravel Leanna finds herself as the newest quested heroine of the ancient days, now working with a much more modernised coven of heroes, she herself becomes known as the Army of Forty's Greek idol hoping to stop the world from meeting a fate that only the gods stopped in the past; right before they were forgotten and destroyed.
