about me

I first joined this site in 2008 as a college tutor. I was in my twenties, had lots of time on my hands and wrote frequently although I had little discipline.
4 years on, I have two toddlers at home, work freelance as a trainer and yet somehow write far more now than I ever did! Obviously I work better under pressure!

Just so you know, I intend to review quite a bit and the books on my shelf will most likely change to reflect this. Please don't worry if your book disappears from my shelf, I just want to get as many great writers noticed as possible.

favourite books

The Legacy by Katherine Webb
Anything by Stephen King
Jodi Picoult novels
To be honest, I would happily read anything; so long as the blurb struck a chord with me.

Moving back home brings his past back to the forefront along with some new, uninvited problems. Who is Sabina; his mysterious neighbour, why is he so drawn to her, and how is she linked to his past? How will he heal his marriage when he can hardly heal himself?

Despite her frustrations and barriers, she finds herself drawn towards him and her life begins to turn around. The only problem is that Lily has a secret regarding her past and her partner that she has been trying to keep for a long time. If her new love gets close to her, won't he get too close to the truth?

I read the first three chapters and never felt any confusion. It felt very natural. If I had any criticism then it's just to watch some of your longer sentences, such as the first one. I would probably make this into two sentences to make it easier to read. The same applies to the part where Mag... view book

'Going to California' is one of my favourite Led Zepplin tracks, I was pleased you used it. You have some really interesting ideas going here. You write poetically and the use of language is very beautiful. Well done on a thought provoking and unique piece of work. Rated. I am due to renew the ... view book

Oh my God, Bob! I only read the first 3 chapters and I had the same feeling I always do when reading a memoir about a difficult childhood; I wanted to put it away and not think about it, yet at the same time I knew I had to continue because I needed to know that everything was going to turn out oka... view book

Hi Robert, I saw you in the homepage and thought your book sounded like my sort of read. I've added it to my watchlist and will read and comment tonight ( when kids are in bed!) I also noticed that in your profile you listed 'Bird by Bird' as one of your favourite reads. This pleased me, as it i... view book
